Float – Preston chanti with preston powerline 0.13 down to 0.08 depending on fish size, feeding little and often through toss pot, hook wise drennan maggot size 20-16 again dependant upon fish size. Mix in some casters and peat. Good for a mixed bag.

Wouldn’t really fish worm on commies at winter time as it can be the kiss of death especially up here in Scotland where it always seems to be a few degrees cooler. I’d be leaning more toward maggots for a mixed catch tbh.

Float style is personal preference but I’d go with a Malman winter wire usually 4×10 or maybe 4×12 if a bit windy. Line also is all about your own preference but I’d go with 0.10 g line to a 0.08 hooklength which is fine as long as rest of kit is well balanced, ie double 4 laccy or maybe solid 6 both Preston original slip. Gama Black hooks in size 18 scaling even further to a 20 if toiling.

There’s a lot better anglers than me who will offer different opinions but it’s all about what you’re confident with yourself. 🙂 🙂 🙂
