Report:
In spite of the “Fish o mania” on the venue the previous day, Crater and Reptile both fished reasonably well and producing the best Thursday winning weight this year.
Simon Skelton on Reptile 17 fished a superb match. Starting on long pole to the island (pellet bait) after a slow start he started to catch small carp on pellet, and as the match progressed his catch rate increased and the fish became bigger. In the latter stages he was catching good carp by fishing short in the open water – all on pellet bait – and his 156-06 made him a clear winner. On Reptile peg 4 Ike Ward also had a very slow start to the match before he caught a few carp close to the small island on meat. The last two hours he caught carp steadily from his right margin on meat to end with 72-08 for second place overall (and taking the lake pool).
Dave “Chalky” White took third place from Reptile peg 13 with 66-00, Baz Smithson on Crater peg 10 in fourth place and winning Crater with his 49-08 taken on dead red maggot.
NB. ‘NISA FEEDERS’ Opens are at Dynamite Makins every Thursday throughout 2015 on Phases 2 or 3. (£15 “all in” at the draw). Draw 9.30 am in Café, Phase 1 Car Park.
