First open matches at Bishops Bowl Lakes produces good catches and excellent feedback from anglers.
The first on White Bishop Lake resulted in winner Martin Paynter catching 40lbs 12 oz mainly on the method feeder, including 4 carp up to 13lb 4oz common carp. Second was Dave Smart with 31lbs 12oz, including 26lbs of roach caught shallow on maggot at 4m, and third was Ron Allan with 15lbs 8oz of skimmer bream all caught at 7m on pellet. The anglers had the conditions against them with temperatures soaring, and carp and bream spawning all over the lake.
The next match is on Saturday 29th May, draw at 9am, everyone welcome.
The second match was a pairs 48 hour specimen carp match on the Mitre Pool, the winner of which was not decided until the last 5 minutes, when Ben Godson and Nathan Bradley caught a 11lb mirror carp to take the lead, with a total of 149lb 1oz. Second place was Grant Francis and Scott Farris, totalling 141lb 4oz, and third Daniel Brackley and Lee Anderson of Banks and Burr with 139lb 14oz. Daniel and Lee won the largest fish prise with a mirror carp at 21lb 6oz. Alan Fearn and Dave Birch secured the prize for the first fish caught 30 minutes into the match.
The next specimen carp match is a 24 hour match on the 26th June. Draw at 2pm fish from 4pm. Pools £60 per pair, with a maximum of 12 pairs, so booking ahead is essential.
