          hi mark

all i do on the erewash is feed it in a little damp leam.

maybe some kryptonite added if you are on a really deep section.
all i fish is dead depth to start with but sometimes you will catch better fish off the bottom , no harm in setting a shallower rig up for a quick try now and again.

feed one line around 4 metres and one at the bottom of the far shelf , maybe another further up the shelf if a boat or weedbed is there.
only time i would put it in neat is tight over to a weedbed.

most of the time i fish joker on the hook but may try a bloodworm if it goes quiet and a big perch is lurking.

floatwise i use fine 0.2g ones with green gammas for hooks with 0.06 latex elastic.

          doing this last year i won 3 matches and a 4th in another with 5-14 , 5-14, 5-11 and 4-4.
all roach with odd bonus perch.

Most of the time in winter you can feed it all at the start, and u can catch all day.

it depends on the venue, species you are targeting and the weather conditions leading up to it. the best way to get your head around it is to go somewhere where you know you will catch and just practice, trial and error is the best way forward!

                thanks for the feedback lads
i have a rough idea its just having that cutting edge in matches and like you say alan its having the time to practice just to formulate a plan.i would luv to have a go on the fossy as ive never fished b&j on there .the only time i fished it with newark with a little amount of success when b&j wasnt allowed i might venture up to lincoln and have a bash in your saturday matches match calendar permitting
                cheers mark parker

i tell you what mark you would love the foss with B&J the fish you catch you wouldnt think were still in there and it also seems to spur everything into feeding. like last year you should have seen how many big perch we weighed in, i dont think i have ever had so many in one season as we did last year. the last saturday league match at odder there were about 20 of us and we weighed in 6 perch over 3lb and there were loads over 2lb that day! you should come down and see for your self.

Karpa what sort of depth of water are you fishin?

                      probably 5ft down the middle,
3/4ft near and far shelf and 12/18 inches far over
                      cheers pete

Karpa 3, for swarkestone/barrow areas of the trent and mersey get your self some preston pb14’s, great little bloodworm and joker floats, shot them using sensas half styles and use green gamakatsu hooks.
No need to go overboard with mixes of leam and stuff on this place in winter, for your far line up the shelf put it in with a little grey leam, for down the track and short lines just use damp leam sprayed up with the old atomiser spray.id personally feed a few lines and enjoy the fishing, plenty of fish in there soyou should get bites all day

Karpa 3, no probs mate. Some other good floats for the worm and joker are known as duffils, there wire straight through and amazingly sensitive although you might struggle to get them now as i think there discontinued, used to get mine from nathans of derby although to be honest there very expensive and a pb14 from preston will do the job just as well. pigeon droppings work well on there for the roach as well mate although that will ruin it for gudgeon etc if the roach dont show

i,ve seen the duffils in nathans my self cracking floats if i remember right about £2.50 a float?
would the kamasan b511 be okay for caster/ bonus fish and the gama greens barbed or barbless?
