        Hi,
15hp engine, how many gallons per mile or per hour will a 18ft boat carrying 4 person consume? Any idea? Need approximate figures for an urgent caculation.

Boat does about 5miles per hour at full speed. Is 3 gallon per hour correct?

Typo: is 2 gallon per hour a good estimate?

Is the engine 2 or four stroke, and what shape is the hull , 2 gallons per hour for 3 miles seems a lot, but a heave boat with an old engine will be difficult to calculate . I have a 17 foot dell quay dory with a 75 hp 2 stroke merc , this setup will do 35 knots , planning at 20 knots she will do just over a litre/litre 1/2 per mile.
If in doubt , always take more fuel than you need its better than running out!!

Thanks G pointer. It’s a 2 stroke…Yesterday, I found the specification on the net and it says 7.3L/H at peak.
