I fished peg 78, as there was a 15 peg match from 80 onwards, where i would have preferred. There was a cold ENE wind blowing straight onto my bank & this hampered loose feeding pellets. Consequently, I fished the method at about 30 metres using soaked 4mm pellets sprinkled with swim-stim. I had 14 carp to 15lbs. Hook baits were 10mm coarse pellet, 12mm robin red or meat. The fish would feed in fits & starts, which may have been due to the change in the temperature from the previous days. I tried the straight lead & bagging waggler, but without success. Considering it was my first visit i was well pleased with the result, & really enjoyed the day. The bloody weather could have been kinder, even when the sun came out i was on the only peg that was shaded by trees!! My middle name isn’t lucky btw. All the higher number pegs were affected by water level & wellies are essential.
The match returned plenty of 100 + nets & the biggest fish i saw was 18lbs 4oz off peg 81.
