I recently purchased a Shimano Forcemaster 10′ mini feeder and think its a lovely little rod. Its at the budget end, but its solid enough and has a nice through action. I was a bit unsure at first, as you don’t see them often, but It casts very accurately and I was hitting the same spot almost every time today and went on to win a match with 125lb+ of fish to 8lb, fishing tight to cover on an island!! There are obviously better more expensive rods, but to be honest they can keep em.lol

I had a couple of Shakey match 3 10ft feeders that made a very good bomb rod for carp and cheap, I recently replace them with the 10ft Preston that is superb, it should be though as it was over twice the price!

Heard loads of good things about the preston 10 footer – Has it got enough backbone for summer carping? I’ve tried other short bomb/feeder rods that are great in winter when the fish are a bit sluggish but you end up playing fish forever in the height of summer.

In my opinion you don’t want too stiff a rod all you end up with is hook pulls and damaged fish.

It is not always about speed particularly when you are catching larger carp. The Preston rod will land fish well over 10lb easily.

Have a look at the shakey mk2 10ft wand.£45 very good.Went in to the shop to buy a 10ft preston and come out with the wand.Caught carp of all sizes with ease.Just keep the rod low and wind in .

Have a look at the Garbolino rocket picker range. They come in 9′ and 10′ are really soft and come in at less than £30. I have just brought a load for the kids on our fishing scheme, really impressed with them.
