TF_bigfellaParticipantWhat’s best for still water Bream fishing ?. I’ve been using Tension Feeder Braid for the past 8 years or so, but now wonder with line development, if there is something better out there.
Appreciate your help -

TF_Team RattlerI’ve used about 9 different braids in the past and the best i’ve use was Browning feeder braid but it’s hard to find in shops. Currently using the preston innovations stuff and it seems ok but you have to work at it to sink it.

TF_bigfellaParticipantHi Team Rattler. Same problem with the Tension Braid. Ive started rubbing in Tungsten Putty and that does help to sink it.

TF_Team RattlerYeah I did the same with this prestons stuff when I first bought it about 18 months ago. Maybe it needs another going over 🙂
The Browning stuff sank on it’s own after a couple of sessions, up to the point where if you squirted a little water on it it would sink first cast.
Maxima and Drennan braid seem to go weak very quickly.
Berkley fireline crystal would surface on it’s own even after the feeder landed on a tight line.
Shakespeare dyneema braid bought many moons ago rotted as soon as it saw daylight lol and I could never get on with original fireline. Tried some colmic stuff that was coated in a ‘anti-friction’ coating but imho it made it slightly stiffer and you lost out on the cast.
Line wise have tried direct mono and that lost strength very quickly even though it initially performs well.
Have used ultima power plus since it’s launch and keep coming back to it after every line experiment as it does everything you want it to and lasts well even though it’s not that hi-tech.
I do like the terry eustace GLT stuff but it’s a bit stretchy. -

TF_bigfellaParticipantTeam Rattler, you certainly know your braids. Have you heard any reports on the new Berkley Nanofil ?

TF_Team RattlerI’ve stayed clear of berkley products after the poor performance of the two firelines and after trying trilene sensation sinking which only lasted 4 months before losing its strength.
A while ago I was eagerly awaiting the launch of ultima feeder braid but it failed to reach the shops as far as i’m aware due to the company hitting the wall. -

TF_KennybI have used Ron Thompson Dyno Braid for about 10 years now the .6 for ranges up to 60 turns with 40 grm feeders and .8 for further distance and heavier feeder work. It’s a great durable sinking braid but like so many products difficult to source. I bought some around a month ago and its still only cost £16 for 300 yards. I fish the tip almost every week all year round and still using the braid I put on 2 years ago. I like to use the Drennan 7 mono in 6.9lb for all my shock leaders again great value at £2.99 for 100 yards. Neither have never let me down. I also use Ultima Power Match for everything else pole rigs, hooklengths etc. However really struggling to source at a reasonable price I had to pay £8 plus postage for my last spool of .14
Also struggling to find my favourite tip fishing hook the Colmic N957. It looks like I will have to find a more popular supplier maybe the Guru stuff or the Matrix range. Any advice would be appreciated.
