TF_qwamboHello mate, I used to fish Caister quite a bit but not as much now.
My favourite place was Second avenue, to the left in between the end reefs.
Fished it about 3 weeks ago but only had small stuff, I think the Smoothounds are now coming in so get yourself some peelers.
A couple of hours either side of high tide used to normally fish best, you will need to find what distance to fish but start off about 60 yds and work either side of that.
Caister is a clean beach and you shouldn’t lose any gear but the crabs are a pain at the moment, stripping bait very quickly.

TF_qwamboCome out of the Haven site and turn right, go about 400 yds and turn right down 2nd Avenue which is just past the Centurion pub, go to the end on the road, turn left and park up, go over the steps and walk to the left for about 300 yds.
Have a look on Google earth. (Caister)
Point 52 39 57 00 N 1 43 43 01 EMight be worth having a look at the lifeboat station but I haven’t fished there for years as it became very shallow after they built the reefs.
If you have a 6m whip you might like to try float fishing at Ness point, Lowestoft.
A whip will allow you to keep the float very close to the rocks.
Kids would love the sandy beach at Lowestoft and the wife would love the shops and of course you could always fish the pier. You could fish the pier or river at Gorleston, this also has a lovely beach for the kids and a cheap café next to the yacht shop.
Gorleston Tackle centre normally has good bait and I think is open till 12.30 on a Sunday.
7-8, Pier Walk, Gorleston, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk NR31 6DA
Tel: 01493 662448Lathems of Potter heigham is a few miles up the road, plenty of stuff for the wife to look at and it just happens to have a large fishing tackle shop but a bit more bias towards the maggot drowners. :o)

TF_qwamboIs that the famous Matt who left five sets of gear in the sea at Cromer pier that same night and was also as bigger blanker as myself? ~clap
Even the young drunk beside us didn’t lose any gear, although it took him about an hour to tackle up, even if in the end I did thread his line through the rings, tie his hook on and attach his rig to the main line. -

MattLSo unfair, only 3 sets of gear and 5 leads Jimmy! Im still having nightmares about that boy. He wont make old bones for sure. Taking the kids and Louise to Devon again next week. There plenty of fresh peeler in Somerset, I think we need to have crack at the smoothies with fresh peeler before they clear off this year. Ill pick some up on the way home. Its been right bait, wrong tide, or right tide wrong bait since April dont you think??
