As some of you will know I spend most of my summer months voluntarily attending events to introduce newcomers to angling across the Southern Home Counties and one venue which we started up a couple of years ago is called Braybrooke Park in Bracknell which can hold about 20 pegs and is stuffed full of fish from small Roach/Rudd/Perch up to sizeable Tench and some rogue Koi Carp up to double figures !
Following on from 3 very successful family events there I’ve been in discussion with Bracknell Town Council [who own the venue] and some very keen local residents with regards to setting up a Community Angling Club for local families to make better use of this fantastic small venue in the heart of the town. The council are very pro-angling and have offered the venue on a free lease basis if the club is set up and they’ve even offered some funding towards the project but we need to do some major swim construction work to make safe, accessible swims for families and disabled users before we can go ahead and this is where you can all help.

The insurance company Aviva have a community funding project which I’ve made an application to and been accepted on to the bidding list but they only allocate to the top five projects in each category on numbers of votes received which can come from anyone anywhere in the country. If you would kindly follow the link below you can read more about our project and hopefully register, log in and cast your votes [everyone has 10 votes which you can allocate all to one project if you wish].

We’re going to be up against it as there are in excess of 3,000 projects registered so I’m hoping the very wide angling community will take this opportunity to support a project which will benefit angling albeit on a local basis. What I’m asking is not just for your vote but to spread the word amongst anyone you know to drum up support and not just angling buddies but your families, workmates, drinking partners etc, etc, and let’s see what we can achieve.

It will only take a couple of minutes of your time to do the business and I thank you in advance for your co operation. If you have any question please feel free to post on this thread or PM me anytime.

Will register and provide my votes.

Nice to see council being pro active not like up here in Cumbria where they want to know what’s in it for them!

                Done. Good Luck.

Why don’t you put this on Maggotdrowners? I’m sure you’ll get a good response.

Scarf, it would be a bit rude to register as a new member on different sites and ask people to vote but if anyone wants to forward my message on to sites/facebook/twitter etc then I wouldn’t object.

                  Steve.
