Fish week 1,029 (season 24,865) returns 237 (5,616) rod average 4.34(4.42)

The best Rainbow of the week was taken by Ray Simpson fishing in the Major Clubs Group 2 match last Sunday. Ray’s fish weighed 5lb 1¼oz. With rising temperatures fishing has still been intense with the main basin and Inmans Spinney, Yellowstone and Hambleton wood seeing the best of the sport. Plenty of limits continue to be taken with 8 fish bag limits weighing over 20lb. Nymphs and dries are still taking fish, but with fish gathering around the aerators sinking lines (various) with mini lures and nymph combinations are working well.

Boat anglers had the best of the sport. However the Normanton and dam area on Friday night saw some good fish taken on dries with Oakham season ticket holder Peter de Kremer taking four fish averaging 3½lb with Peter’s preferred method of dry fly reaping its reward.

Keith goes to the top of the tree!
Season ticket holder Keith Jones won the fifth match of this popular league with 8 fish weighing 21lb 11oz. Keith now tops the league with 33 points. Some impressive fish were taken (mainly in the main basin) with seven over 3lb. Roger Mortimer took the best fish a 3lb 6½oz Rainbow.

Grafham Water
Fish week 837 (season 13,516) returns 226 (3,462) rod average 3.7 (3.9)

Grafham Water has continued to fish well this week with the majority of anglers catching their trout in the top two feet of the water on small nymphs, blobs and olive hoppers fished just below the surface.

Bank anglers have had some good sport this week mainly by fishing the bowl of the dam and the G buoy area on floating lines with diawl bachs, crunchers, pheasant tail nymphs and olive hoppers fished slowly just below the surface.

Boat anglers have had the best of the sport this week by fishing floating or sink tip lines with diawl bachs, crunchers, pheasant tail nymphs, blobs and olive hoppers once again just below the surface with a slow retrieve. The best boat areas this week have been dam tower, G,H,I,X buoys and drifts through the middle of the reservoir.

The biggest bag of the week was caught by Milton Keynes angler and birthday boy John Timophy. John caught eight trout weighing 22lb 10oz by fishing a floating line with diawl bachs and olive hoppers fished slowly in the top of th
