Catching Ide

Can anyone tell me how to catch Ide I have a match at Pine Lakes Thorne on sunday Ive heard its the main prey.

Casters, lots of them

Ive fished 2 matchs there and won them both ~clap 56lb and 52lb

Fish shallow, start at 3ft and work your way up, they will eventually come up to about 12″, when you get them at this depth this is when you will start catching quickly, Its about 8ft deep. There is also some small tench that will come up to that depth to feed

4 pint of casters should be enough, Maggot tends to bring the smaller fish in so personally I’d avoid maggot, the target fish are of a good stamp at around 10 ounce a piece.

I use 0.12 straight thru to a 18 b911 with caster shallow for ide. Elastic i use a doubled slip no 4 , or a 6 set slack. Any heavier and u bump them.

personally i`d use a bigger hook-something like a 808 in a 14

use a spray bar and hold the line tight,most will hook themselves

I started off on a 0.10 to a 18 5 laccy and as the match went on i realsised they wernt that bothered about presentaion as they were avin it so swapped to a 16 and 0.12 8 laccy to get em in quicker, It didnt affect the bite rate at all, but as always srart off fishing for bites and then go from there.

I started at 10 metre and got them back to top2 +2 ~clap
