TF_AdzTParticipantI think the coverage today is better than yesterday. Much more concentrated on the angling. The piece with matt hall watching his float just a few minutes ago is what I would prefer to see more

Daddy BParticipantGetting back on topic I agree entirely with the original poster that today’s match was far superior to yesterday’s in terms of a watchable TV programme for anglers. All the messing around with the celebrity match is pretty damn tedious to watch and combined with the admittably unavoidable adverts does break up the flow of the match to a large degree.
You could sense that the studio were rooting for Matt Hall towards the end, although the fact that he was miked up and Nathan was not probably played a part in that perception.
Having watched the last two days I have concluded that if i ever made the final (which is pretty bloody unlikely as I don’t match fish any more) then I would take up the option of being miked up in order to be able to hear the commentary.

TF_SwimfeederEnthralling tv on both days, this weekend has been a triumph for match fishing, and in particular the Fisho’mania concept…..two great, great matches, sportingly fished by every competitor, every angler a credit to the sport, well done Neil,( he reads this forum) Neil, believe it or not, I had a feeling that if you could get em going up in the water…you would stand a very real chance of winning, I have not seen anyone better at the method, and well done Nathan, (again he reads and sometimes contributes on here) this latest big win is a real feather in your cap, wait till I tell my Daniel tomorrow, he will genuinely be delighted for you.
Quote of the weekend came from the living legend Tommy today, when he said that both Neil and Nathan could peel an orange in their pockets (meaning they are world class tight wads) I laughed out loud at that, cos it is so true!!! ~clap ~clap ~clap

BBR1ParticipantGot to agree with most comments. Nathan deserved it today and got his just rewards for the stick he got last year, couldnt beleive how 1 sided the commentary and footage seemed but fair play to tommy for his honest comments at the end. Spent a week with Nathan at white acres last year and he was nothing like what some people had said, not that i ever judge anybody. So well done mate, spend it wisely~clap

CasterRob,I was going to let this go as I think your comments taint what was a bloody marvellous and compelling weekend of armchair fishing, but I have to say,
If it were not for the excellent Sky production, (and it was outstanding in every department), only a few thousand travelling spectators would have been able to share the privilege of witnessing two fantastically tense and dramatic fishing matches of the very highest calibre, if you cannot find anything positive to say about Sky and it’s production team, then you really ought to take stock of your outlook on life and see a head Doctor, you make Ebenezer Scrooge look like a generous, eternal optimist!!!!!!!

TF_CutnutHAve watched the closing commentary again and as reluctant as Keith was to give full credit to Nathan, Tommy rose above last years debacle and was a credit to sportsmen in every discipline. Saturday he had given it all he had and the look of disappointment was painted on his daughters face too, but they were both able to give credit where it was due and on Sunday he was even handed and fair with his commentary.
Nathan fished a tidy match as did they all, he was fortunate to be on more fish as is the case with most winners!
As for Leaky’s comment about ‘Teeth Arthur’, it’s succinct and IMO it’s harsh but true. Commentating is a difficult job to master and remaining impartial is even harder.
It will be interesting to see Tight Lines review of the two days especially assuming the winners for both days are in the studio, recorded live it still leaves the option to edit.
We will see…Hats of to the Sky coverage and the format was far better than last year.

19/07/2010 at 7:41 am #110677
TF_DecaffLike plenty of others have said WITHOUT Sky there would be no coverage,so well done Sky.
However,i’m glad i’m not the only viewer whom could not beleive the bias of the main commentary. In the end it became so blatant that Keith even became aware it had gone too far & put a stop to it,could have been to late by then though!
This may or may not have been intentional, but it does pose a question over wiring up anglers, allowing them to participate, that i think needs addressing for future finals.
All said & done,a great couple of days, congrats to Neil & Nathan.

TF_JohnHReally enjoyed both days. As for the coverage its hard to suggest ways of improving. To be hyper critical they did tend to cover Tommy a lot but that is understandable given his pundit position. As for Nathan he did fish very well and was a worthy winner. He did however blot his copybook somewhat last year and I believe everyone was very nervous he would do it again, on live TV you can understand why this was so.
On day one Neil Mc was hardly shown yet he was never far down the frame and for the purist was fishing totally different to everyone else.
Keith, as the main man behind this event and Sky fishing obviously did not want anything to spoil anglings big day.
Nathan would be a big man to go and shake his hand as it is likely he will be back centre stage soon and would love it if TV had the confidence to mike him up.Keith did say how he thought Nathan had matured, praise indeed? -

Well done to the winners. Shame i cant see it from here. Hope to get a copy soon.

But that’s a problem with TV not with nathan, these are REAL people not actors or paid pro sportsmen and if you’re going to stick a camera in a real persons face then you have to be prepared for anything they might say.
After all the slagging he got last year I think he was a credit to the sport this year and I was chuffed that he pulled off the win. Even though it was obvious neither Keith nor Tommy like the guy they did give credit where due.
Great productions overall both days, well done to Sky, well done to Neil and Nathan, Keith, Tommy, Matt and everyone else involved.
