Having looked through this months magazine,is it a good idea to wear chest waders out in a boat?

Unless they are made of lead, they won’t drag you under if you fall in.
Disadvantages are, (1) if they have air trapped in them they will lift your legs up in the water which is not a problem if you have a life jacket on, to keep your head up.
          (2) If they fill up with water, it would make it more difficult to pull you back into the boat.
There is a clip on one of the fishing programs (possibly screaming reels) where a 60 year old bloke jumps into a river with waders on and he just floats there.

Can’t see anyone wearing a lifejacket in the photos.

Ha Ha, roll on the free bacon butties and tea on Saturday.

Personally if I were to go out fishing in a boat and that’s very unlikely to happen, I wouldn’t wear waders because if I did fall in and they did filled up with water it would make me as heavy as Noel and I would never get pulled back in. :op

                    Chest waders are not neccessary.
There are far better options like quality breathable suits for summer and thermals for winter.
With other anglers in the confined space of a boat there is also a greater risk of puncturing your waders which you probably won’t realise until you’re wading at some later date.
I wouldn’t bother using waders afloat.

I have neoprenes for warmth on the beach on wet winters nights, to honest I got them 18 months ago and have never used them yet, on a boat wear a flotation suit and warm boots.
If you are fly fishing or lure fishing in the surf or estuary get some breathable chest waders, it can help with distance.

I generally goes commando when at sea, one less layer when ‘going’ over the side, speedos chafe too much and they don’t come in XXXL Fat Ass sizes anyway.

So you use that camoflage paint as sun block or to stop chaffing.

Dunno about boats but farting in chest waders must have its drawbacks.

                                Especially if you follow through.
