Read Steve Ringers excellent article in AT this
week. One of the commercials I fish ban Corn as feed but you can use it on the hook. Would you fish Corn in this situation? If you did how would you feed if you’d feed at all at this time of year?

          Hi,

I havent read Steve R’s article, so forgive me if im repeating what’s already been mentioned.

I use corn as a hookbait on my local water when waggler fishing at depth, but fed with coarse carp pellets of a similar size. Due to corn’s non uniform shape, size, catapulting corn is not really ideal, but pellet seems a good feed compromise to corn hookbaits.

At this time of year when feeding is cut back anyhow, just fishing single corn hookbait’s, either on the bomb or waggler can be very productive when casting to ‘showing’ fish or to likely looking areas.

Matt, i would def still give corn a go as hookbait only. Corn in my opinion is very much a stand out visibility bait at this time of the year as opposed to a bait that the Carp are really going to get their heads down on. In other words it acts a target bait. So a grain of corn over a few pellets will often still get bites when you cant catch on pellet hookbaits.

Also when fishing single corn as a target bait and if your getting no indications or bites at all, put two grains on the difference can be instant, pole / lead or wag.
