Cwmbran nobblers win the welsh national again. making it three wins out of the last four years. They beat the local sponsored teams on their own patch! revenge for last year.

Well done phil and the other boys well deserved but i will add out of the two teams we had in there was only four local lads out of ten anglers and we have only had a team in the national two years and had a second and a win not a bad record plus we have had the individual winner for two years running and I’m sure we will be there or there a bouts next year as well

Congrats! What venue were you guys on? Silly question but is the a match team that is part of Cwmbran AA? Or something totally different? I’m near that area and contemplating joining a club, but trying to work out which is best value.

              Hi Mate

The nobblers are not an angling club, just a group of friends who grew up together !

If you want to start dipping your toe into matches join newport aa, matches every fortnight and well attended. You can fish it as an open or with a reduced peg fee if a member. The next match is a week sunday at woodstock. 8.45 draw in the car park, usually around thirty anglers.

Thanks I’ll definitely look into it. Is Newport club the club that have the venue swap with Bute? Or did I make that up?

hi phil, your team wouldnt have won off our pegs either ,we had the best peg on the complex and the worst (MINE)plus 3 average pegs, not at least 3 fliers like your team!!!!

                      Hi Rob

The post was there only for a wind up for John, I have been fishing too long to not know you cannot win of bad pegs. But, as we had not fished the venue for over three years it was a pretty good performance. Also the teams either side of us struggled, so most areas were not that special! 🙂

We enjoy the matches, much bigger now and a good day out.

                      P.S.

You still hold the trophy anyway LOL
