I am replacing the elastic in my 8 tops from latex to hydro. As you know at 15 a throw its nots cheap. Does anyone know where i can buy it from a little cheaper…I require 3 of each colour up to and including black…..cheers

Hello mate, have you had a look at the Preston Hollo range,i’ve got it through all my tops, just as good imo and at £9.99 quite a bit cheaper.

Why don;t you run 1.5m of hydro through each top and use Dacron for the rest, I’ve been using it like this for all this season and not had a problem yet, makes controlling fish much easier and you bump less as you can have it set slacker due to the reduced length.

SO that’s be 4 lots of hydro instead of 8

the saint, theres a few places doing deals on bulk purchases of hydro, fishermans friend in birmingham wil do 5 lots of hydro for £60 and 3 for £38 so that would save you £22 straight away. fosters do any 4 for £50 and i also know leigh tackle and bait will do you a good deal on that many lengths of hydro. hope this helps

for lighter hollow stuff Ive had no probs with drennan, maver dual core and preston – however for heavier stuff (black hydro equivalent and upwards)- then it has to be diawa – not because it performs any better than some of the others but because it is far more durable when given a lot of hammer – Ive replaced 3 lots of blue preston to one lot of black hydro.

                    You do the maths

You wont believe how much better hollow stuff is than latex – enjoy using it and good luck
