best wishes and thanks to Paul Baggeley, who intoduced many schemes such as the ADB and angling education with organisational adeptness and proffessionalism that will in the long run help preserve and expand angling, He never hid his non-angling backround but was always approachable, helpful and friendly to layman such as myself and personally helped the IWFAA in obtaining legal advice and offers of assistance despite the IWFAA not being a NFA member club. He was an excellent behind the scene negotiator and his role in the preserving angling re-Bewdley Council should not be underestimated in ahis regard.
Our thanks to him and appreciation.
Who will replace him? the launch of Angling Unity is imminent and the role of the NFA within the new unitary body has not yet been publically clear. The need for more proactive regulations by the NFA in regard to bait-limits , unification of commercial match rules and commercial fishery integration needs addressing as do other angling issues re-the nationals,Holmepierrepoint, and national competition promotion and expansion. We will miss his skills in getting angling as a conservator, eduction and benefits in preventing anti-social behaviour and familial cohesion properly accredited by govt.-the ea and dept. of sports, media and culture, adhoc agencies and trusts and recognised stakeholder representation within regional and apertinantly local authority integration.
The tasks ahead are dauting yet imperative, who are the front runers for taking over his role and how ill it be defined?
