Docklow Pools Reports and Match Results

        • The River season of course has now finished until 16th June. In the last 3 weeks there have been Four (Yes 4!) 20lb+ Pike caught on our stretch! Well done Dave Bullen, Graham, Chris Powell and Ian Booth. Photos on our website & Facebook
        • The match results page of our web site is up to date http://www.docklowpools.com/match-results.php Recent key ones at the foot of this email. Remember open every sunday, and members match every 2nd Saturday of the month. Next on is 10th April which is the Syndicate Silver match on the Farmer Jack.
        • Rearranged Tackle Match is this saturday. This is rescheduled from December. Its a fun match similar to the fur n feather. Everyone wins a piece of tackle, even last place!
        • The End of Season Match was last saturday (this is our oldest trophy, with some weights from the 70’s @ 3lbs ish to win) – Great to 25 people take part in March! Congratulations to Mr Ronald Ord with superb 62lbs from Peg 30. Rumour is he’s selling his poles to buy a bait boat! 2nd was Eric Davis with 46lbs and Greg Waller 45lbs.
        • The Silver Fish weekend was absolutely fantastic on the 6th & 7th March. The first day averaged 18lbs per angler, which is terrific when you consider carp dont count and the time of year. The winner caught over 100lbs of silvers over the two days. I know I couldnt get that weight in a week! Brilliant effort. Full result on web site. Congratulations to Mr Giles Cochrane who came 1st. Welsh Captain Spud Murphy was 2nd, and Les Thompson 3rd. But a special mention to all those who took part. All of you fished brilliantly and your fellow regulars have total respect for giving it a go….and winning in most cases.
        • My favourite net of fish this winter, would be Alan Boyds on the Farmer Jack last saturday. Bitter cold day, but whilst most of us went for big stuff and put our hands in our pockets Alan worked hard to weigh in 24lbs of silvers. Absolutely terrific. I was next peg down and weighed in 14bs but he was catching all day. Favourite winning weight this winter is still Super Bob Sayers, but Alans was as enjoyable to see.
        • If youre wondering where Rob is, he’s having his hernia operation. We wish him well and a speedy recovery! Plenty to do although I’m sure you’d agree the farm is looking better than ever. Next few weeks the flowers will be out for spring, and it couldnt look prettier.
        • Our new bailiff is Mr Alan Rowe, who after a very heavy and intense interview process passed with flying colours. He has already taken up his responsibilities immediately, so although I’ve furnished him with a list of members, double rods and river permits, please keep your membership in your box to help out on his travels. Simon described his duties as being a “helper not Hitler!”, so the moustache has got to go Al! But seriously good luck and thank you
        • A few reminders please as both Mike, Simon and myself have seen a few things lately that need a quiet but strong word please:
        • 1 – Weighing in Large fish, particularly large carp transferring from net to net. They are not not to be tipped in from a keep net into the weighing net so they hit the floor. Naturally this injures the poor things. We want all our anglers/matchmen to be sensible and carefully placing big carp in rather than tipping them without any consideration. Take your time and look after the fish every time.
        • 2 – A new rule for 2010 is using a Landing net for fish over 4ozs. It doesnt need a rule to do whats right really (Rules attached as a reminder). Still see decent silvers being swung in. Use a landing net please. Ive just asked a local lad today with an attitude not to beach a chub of 3lb without a net politely whilst packing up his stuff at the same time.
        • 3 – Rags – its an old rule but one that needs reminding but please dont use wet or dry rags on any fish. It wipes the slime off that protects them from bacteria and will ultimately kill them. Use a rag for your hands not the fish. Thanks
        • Holidays – Winter lets finish 27th March, so weekly bookings will commence then.
