Dodgy Poles.

No not the Easter European type. This is probably a stupid question,and I don’t know why I keep asking myself, but anyway, isn’t there a cost effective way for manufacturers to incorporate some sort of serial number/method of identification into pole sections. This could then go a long way in preventing honest people buying stolen second hand goods. It would also guarantee that when you buy a new pole, you are getting it as it came from the factory and not something that has been thrown together by a dodgy retailer. It would tighten the whole process up wouldn’t it, and help with insurance?. After all 2-3k for a bit of carbon is an awful lot of money.

My old garbo G10 had serial numbers and barcodes in every section, not sure they do it with the whole range?

My Maver has barcodes on some sections. The trouble is they wear off over time.

Cannot see how it would help in the 2nd hand market as someone can sell something to someone who sells it to someone else etc and you are trusting these people to keep accurate personal records. The supplier wouldn’t be able to trace the whole trail of every section.

For new poles it would increase the cost as the administration of it all (EVERY section)would mount up. If you buy new you will have rights as a consumer for anything proving to be faulty anyway so it’s not a problem. You are already protected.

Don’t buy from dealers you think might be dodgy.

I think it’s a minor issue (if at all) and not worth the effort.
