I’m thinking of changing all my hollow elastic kits to doubled up latex. Not sure if you guys have had the same problems, but having changed 10 top kits over to Preston hollow not a year ago, the majority of them have perished. What size latex would cover all my needs (I was thinking 4,6 & 10) Also, is there one manufacturer that stands out from the rest. Thanks

Middy and Preston are very popular

Elastic grade depends on what you’re fishing for.

I’ve tried double 2 on drains and wouldn’t recommend it as I couldn’t get on with it. It kept twisting and not retracting properly. Re-elasticating didn’t sort it out either.

Double Middy 3/4 works well, as does Preston Slip 6, but for some reason the 5 seems harsh. I also use Preston Slip 8, but go to solids for snag fishing to avoid the initial stretch.

I’ve been using the cheap hollow £5.99 of keepnetsdirect.com since March with no problems and at that price I don’t mind changing it more regular than other more expensive hollows. The black 11-14 is the stand out size in the range. Tried doubled latex but found it to harsh for the venues I fish.

                    All mine Preston slip rich.
                    2 x 5 – blue
                    2 x 6 – yellow
                    2 x 8 – black
                    2 x 10 – dark blue

Only costs £20 to do them all!
Don’t need much else to cater for your fishing

I only use double 5 vespe. been using it for 3 or 4 years for anything up to 3 to 4lb when i’m targeting a fishery with a good head of large roach, skimmers and f1s but they are all on puller kits. found anything heavier not very good and went back to normal single elastic instead of hollows
