Hampton Magna bank angler Mr John Blackband caught his first double figured fish in twenty five years of fishing at the water. The 11lbs 5ozs rainbow was also the week’s heaviest at the fishery. John took another two fish, one at 6lbs 5ozs, to give a total weight of 22lbs 15ozs for the three fish. All were caught on the Diawl Bach at Rainbow Corner.
Mr Vic Hetherington of Cropredy boated a rainbow weighing 8lbs 8ozs.
The best brown this week was 6lbs 00ozs to Nottingham boat angler Mr Ray Higton.
Mr Richard Snelson of Kenilworth returned a 5lbs 00ozs brown from the bank and Mr Bill Murphy of Southam also returned a brown from the bank.
Best eight fish limit was 27lbs 8ozs to Mr J Finch. Other big bags include 27lbs 00ozs to Mr Bernard Lewis of Dyffryn, 25lbs 9ozs to Mr Peter Tandy of Banbury, 24lbs 00ozs to Mrs Kyran Barby of Broughton Astley, 24lbs 00ozs to Mr Gwyn Jones of Wing and 24lbs 00ozs to Mr Bob Wallinger of Sharnford.
Again there have been some notable five fish limits including 18lbs 6ozs to Mr Ray Higton, 18lbs 4ozs to Nuneaton bank man Mr Roly Hill, 18lbs 2ozs to Mr Ron Blackwell of Leicester, 17lbs 2ozs to Coventry’s Mr Gordon Slack on the bank, 17lbs 6ozs to Mr Adam Spendley of Braunston, 17lbs 00ozs to Mr Derek Griggs of Leicester and 16lbs 4ozs to Mr Tony Broadway of Coventry on the bank.
Best areas have been Rainbow Corner and Toft Bay – opposite ends of the water!
Diawl Bach, Black Buzzer, Invicta, Muddler Minnow, Montana, Damsel, Daddy Longlegs, Cruncher, Soldier Palmer, Orange Blob have all been successful patterns.
