lewisHI all,
What’s the best way of drilling your top kits, is it worth doing them yourself or should I send them away?
I have 20 top kits for my new pole, I do not want to spend £400+ on getting them all drilled. Any cheaper alternatives?

TF_dirkdigglerpreston pulla bungs.
£2.99 per topkit and nowt wrong with em~clap
think about when you come to sell your pole, not everyone likes a pole full of holes ~think -

TF_nitrodoing it yourself is fine but i think you need some kind of reinforcement. I have cut small sections from old top kits, slid them over and glued onto the number 3 section. Then just drill through that bit. Some people are drilling straight through the topkit but i wouldnt reccomend it with heavier elastics. You wont need all your tops drilled anyway, only the carp ones! no need for them on silver fish gear~think

TF_craigmI have wrapped and drilled some of mine and our kids top kits with a kit he got from a firm he deals with at work. It cost about £35 for the kit and came with all you need to do quite a few top kits and instructions.

Alex_RayParticipanti wouldnt drill them without them being reinforced first, dont think they will be able to withstand the pressure put on them!
Call/email scott at esselle and see what the best price he can do for the wraps is if you are getting a load done? The drilling bit is easy if your slow and careful! -

lewisGood point about selling pole, but I think it will add value on a top end pole now – every one is on them.
I have always used Preston Pulla bungs but they are out of stock, and I want to use my pole!

TF_Cutnutmmmmmm…~think is it the future or a phase…two times Fisho winner Matt Hall doesn’t rate it.

TF_wildingukI wouldn’t touch a drilled top kit, or do it myself, specially not a second hand pole someone has done themselves. Pulla bungs work fine, and give the choice then. Once drilled there’s no going back. Fosters have pull bungs in stock, and if you’re buying a load must be worth the postage. Could also try nathans, and most of the other reputable online retailers. Most do free postage if you’re spending over a ton, with bungs, elastic, bushes, and some pole floats you’d easily get up to that mark.

ginerS26Participantcant see the point when pullas are out there holes on poles equals weak sections. like wildinguk says once drilled no going back.~naughty

TF_dirkdiggleri really don’t get this argument about drilling your topkits at all.
fair enough if your top end pole comes with them already done.
can anyone come on here and convince me that i should drill holes or let someone else drill holes in my £2000 tourney pro?
also can anyone tell me what is wrong with the preston pulla bungs?
i’ve been using them since they came out around two years ago with no problem at all ( oh and don’t even go there with the they weigh a ton comment because they weigh almost nothing.)1, things against pulla bung none.
2, things against drilling kits.
1,potential weakening of topkit.
2,potential destruction of topkit.
3,definate devaluation of pole ( there are already people in this thread who won’t buy it off you )
4,extensive fannying about either getting them done or doing them yourself.
5,cost. -

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantAs I have said before to people dont drill your all your topkits I do like the look of the idea ,but what happens when an alternative comes in things innovate so quickly you could soon be left with topkits that are full of holes and no good ! Just use preston pulla kits.
