bifferdParticipantAnyone from the site fshing this match on sunday? Theres a group going up from our club, Chadderton Mill AC, but none of us seen it before let alone fished it.
Just wondering what best methods/bait/feeding patterns etc work best and also what target weight might be?
Also info greatly appreciated, and will exchange info if we get any from other sources.
Big Finn you fishing?

The Knot Weed KidHi mate
This is a really hard match to give you info on because it uses 4 different waters all of which are different. Any way i’ll do my best!
No.1 – Edgeley Park AC – The lake not to draw! However is fishing well this year since the sluice has been repaired which has coloured the water up. 2 main methods – feeder fished worm or red maggot for bream / tench or pole fished nice and tidy for ‘bites’ Lily pad pegs are the best!
No.2 – GOSJAC – Full of skimmers, roach, chub, tench and carp. Corner pegs for large carp. Top pegs 12,13,14,15 (ish) deeper water pole pegs that hold bream! Park side – catch on pole and waggler or feeder. House side pole fished shallow with caster won last years match from here nice net of roach/chub/skimmers
No.3 – Day Ticket lake. Chop Worm, Caster or pellets are the best baits
Peg 1 – a flyer pole fish down side for skimmers, roach and carp. + straight out for skimmers.
Peg 2,3,4 also v good. Full of skimmers. Can catch well on feeder fished out towards island
Pegs 5 to 13 not so clever but full of smaller fish – skimmers and roach primerilly. Don’t rule out hemp and tares on this lake.
Peg 14 & 15 – u fish down the side of the bushes for skimmers, roach, tench and carp
16 – 19 on the wall deep water, fish shallow if possible
19a to 27 V good pegs that could throw up the winner. Pole or feeder for skimmers on deck or roach shallow. Carp may show here too.Cheadle AC – Demmings Rd Pool.
Fishing very well at moment with 20+lb needed to win 2 1/2 hr matches. Last large sunday match was won by John Holmes with 26lb 12oz and was fished in appalling weather conditions.
3 main methods on cheadle – 1) fish closer in by lily pads for tench / crucians will need 0.14 line and strong elastic (i use black hydro)
2) Fish 4mm pellet 13m open water. Light rig 0.10 line, 0.1 float, dead depth loose feed 2mm and 4mm hard pellets. This method is catching loads of skimmers at mo approx 3 / 4 to the lb
3) Chop worm and fishmeal groundbait fished at 14.5m in open water if poss. Ideally 0.12 line 4×12 float 16 hook and worms head for skimmers and bream.
Depth at Cheadle is two and half foot -

Zoo was good finn enjoyed it anyway.
Meadow fished crap for 3 1/2 hours then had 26lb in final hour and half. 49lb won 44lb 2nd and 32lb 3rd
blake hall – is it any good? what wins the matches ??
-
07/08/2007 at 6:50 pm #62419
The Knot Weed KidLee, blake Hall winter league is pretty fair there are 2 sections on peninsula pool 1 on hall pool and 1 on blake pool so theres loads of space and weather depending normally need 30lb to frame (in winter)

10/08/2007 at 8:18 am #62424
TF_Big FinnParticipantChris,
I can tell you on the Edgeley waters there is no bait limit, Bait bans are: No Bloodworm or Joker, No Floating baits, No Freelining thats about it. Keith will let you know about Cheadle as ive never fished it.

The Knot Weed KidRules for cheadle are simple – no b & J, no floaters etc, barbless hks only and must use the toilets provided – ie no pissing up trees etc its a condition on our lease from the council!!!! Also you must use one of the clubs own keepnets and not ur own. If you draw here just collect one from the club secretary on arrival.
-
10/08/2007 at 1:41 pm #62427
TF_Big FinnParticipantOh yeh BARBLESS HOOKS ONLY on the Edgeley waters also.
