Elasticating Top Kits

Just out of curiosity – does anyone only laccy up the top 1 section as opposed to the usual top 2. If so – for what reason?

Assuming you have taken out the actual No.1 section of the pole then yes, I do elasticate only one section for light and medium elastics (up to a No.10). Good for fish up to 3 or 4lb but for anything over I do two sections.

Quite a few guys run elastic thru’ just the top 1 (assuming the number 1 section is removed), such as black/red hydro.

The theory being it never allows the fish to race off and build up pace, it literally stops them dead in their tracks.

I’ve seen it done by a few guys, and it works well, but it looks crude, and it’s usually only done when they’re looking for big weights/catching close in.
