Fish are being caught all around the lake now. The warm weather has seen some impressive buzzer hatches. Most fish are being caught 4 – 7 foot down. The best method on calm bright days is to use an indicator with buzzers at both 4 and 7 foot. On days with a light breeze straightlined buzzers with a diawl bach or cruncher on the top dropper has also worked well.
Only a few fish are rising daytime but in the evening a few fish are showing on the surface in the shallow bay/gravel bar area.
Elinor’s spectacular evening rise should be underway by mid April.
If we get more wind then the daphnia feeders can be caught with an intermediate line and white/green or orange lures.
Sunday April 1st saw Mid Northants Trout Fishers hold their early season bank match at Elinor.
A frosty morning gave way to a lovely sunny but calm day. Not ideal fishing conditions but the 22 competitors fished well and caught 116 fish
