August 19th – 25th
115 anglers caught 428 fish of which 279 were returned
Best Areas
Bank – dam, boat bay, east arm
Boat – anchored off dam, boat bay, pylon point, down middle
Best Patterns
red apps, red diawl bach, orange or red cdc, damsel nymph, damsel booby, orange blob
Bank fishing remains difficult with the continuing warm weather keeping feeding fish out of range for much of the day.
Many boats are taking good bags by either fishing dries or washing line with a booby or daddy on the point and nymphs with a flash of red on the droppers.
There are more fry around this year and a few fish have already started taking them.
Watch out in the afternoons for flying ants! The trout absolutely love them and some spectacular rises can occur for a short while. A size 14 big black is worth a try.
Please take extra care with fish caught and released while the water is still warm.
