1 barbel won juniors yesterday I believe, and two tench for 10lb won the ladies, 5lb second, 2lb was 3rd today on ladies champs. No idea of weights on qualifier today.

              Here’s the junior’s report:

The River Avon was carrying just a few inches of extra water with a good colour for the 2007 final but strong wind made life difficult for most of the competitors.
The junior winner was Alex Clements of Farnborough with a 6-7-0 barbel from Peg 23, two swims below the Abbey Bridge.
Second place went to Maxine Hiscock with 3-8-12 from Peg 7 and third was Richard Pullis with 2-7-4 from Peg 29.
In the Intermediate competition top place went to Martin Mines from Woodford Halse with 5-7-8 of chub and perch from Peg 56.
Second place went to James Lewis with 5-2-0 of chub from Peg 51 and third was Sean Simms with 3-13-4 of chub from Peg 36.

                Ladies’ result:

The second Ladies Championship was won in convincing style, by Marina Sylvester, from Studley, with 10-1-8 from Peg 70 at the bottom end of the Café Meadow.
Using strong pole gear close in, Marina landed two quality tench plus perch on worm over bait droppered chopped worm and caster to win the coveted trophy. She also picked up £500 in cash, a Shakespeare float rod and a place in the big Shakespeare Championship final on Saturday August 25th for a shot at the £5000 top individual prize.
Second place went to Jan Williams who went one place better than her third placing last year with 5-1-0 of tench and perch on swimfeedered worm and caster from Peg 58. Third place went to Lucy South with 2-10-0 of eels from Peg 52.
There was a tie for fourth place between Lisa Didcote at Peg 63 and Anna Blyth at Peg 68, both with 2-4-0.

28lb won the other qualifier from peg 4. (3 barbel upto 11lb plus some bits.)8lb was 2nd (barbel plus roach). The other weights were mainly odd barbel or tench.
