The 2013 Evesham Angling Festival is this weekend!
The clock is ticking to the start of British match fishing’s most heavily sponsored event – the Evesham Angling Festival. With over £27,000 up for grabs, river fishing’s most prestigious weekend has once again secured backing from Shakespeare, Wychavon District Council, and Match Fishing Magazine.
For the anglers, the stakes couldn’t be higher, but if you fancy making the trip to Evesham to take in the action, then the festival has more to offer than ever before. The craft fair – a popular feature last year – has been extended, and is a must see attraction for lovers of country life.
The venue, Evesham’s Crown Meadow, is also hosting its first real ale and cider festival, with over 30 real ales, and 10 traditional ciders on offer. And of course, there are no shortage of fishing tackle exhibitors offering the latest gear.
For the kids, there is a fun fair –and even the chance to try fishing on the dedicated coaching area at the top end of the Crown Meadow.
Then there is the onsite bookmaker, who will be only too happy to take your bets allowing you to have a flutter on your favourite angler.
For the second year running, the event is being attended by key members of the world beating Drennan Team England. World Champions, Will Raison, Alan Scotthorne and Sean Ashby will all be competing on all three day in this year’s event.
The 70 anglers attending each day reads like a who’s who of match fishing, with names like Dave Harrell, Callum Dicks, Keith Hobson, Wayne Swinscoe, Denis White, Lee Kerry, Jon Arthur and Mark Downes just the tip of the iceberg.

Then head down to the Evesham Beer Festival!
For the first time in the events history, the Evesham Angling Festival will this year host its first ever beer and cider festival.
Working with CAMRA favourite, and local Evesham free-house ‘The Fleece Inn’, the festival will offer some 30+ real ales and 10 traditional ciders.
Located on Evesham’s Crown Meadow, the beer tent is right at the heart of the festival action – so you can enjoy a proper pint as you watch angling’s most prestigious river fishing event taking place.
The beer festival will run from 10am till 7pm this Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The gates to the main angling festival, and access to the Crown Meadow, is from 8.30am.
