we had our first club match last saturday, the winner with 83lb had pumped his expanders with worcester sauce, now he was on the flyer, but next weight was 45lb, do you think flavourings work in your expanders? If so let us know your potions fellas?

IMHO i don’t find they work, it’s just a confidence booster i suppose. I’m pretty much certain that you won’t get more bites on a flavoured one than a standard expander, they are so good anyway that they don’t need flavourings. Just my opinion tho.

Some venues have certain flavours that work well but again i find it’s just the bait your using that works well and not the flavour.

Realistically tho i suppose the flavour is so it leaks into the water to get the attention of fish that are far away. Who knows what fish think, it’s just your preference i guess.

One venue i know reacts extremely well with Richworth’s KG1 pellet and so the fish but like them because of the flavour. I think in the summer you wouldn’t be able to tell if one bait works betetr than another with a flavouring on because fish will eat anything possible in the summer. However in the winter when a change bait works well (sometimes) then this will eb the time to try it when fish are quite fussy.

It’s hard to give a definate answer ~think

I do not normally flavour pellete , but have used Marmite in the past with good results , probably due to the salt content.

lol takes me back this to when 1 lad was taking my local venue apart, every1 thought he was using scopex cos he stunk of it! every week he framed (mostly won)
one week i walked down the bank and allmost every angler had a bottle of scopex spray on there side try!! lol
i talked to the guy in the local tackle shop and he said he had never sold so much!

while on holiday with this said angler at white acres i asked him whay he used scopex when he was an out an out choppy and caster angler???

he said i dont use that crap! i just spray it into the wind so every1 THINKS i do

I always put a flavour in the water. I use “dynamite baits the source” & VDE greenlipped mussel.
At the risk of sounding boring make sure the flavour is water soluble or the pellets will float!
                Regards Peter.
