TF_James_HI second Boddington, it’s worth every step of that hike to your peg.
But also Viaduct Fishery, Somerset, has to be one of the best all round venue’s in the country.

Peace , tranquility , sooooo many different pools and species.

15/02/2010 at 10:19 am #94381
TF_FordyI’d say first is The Glebe. I’ve fished it twice, come nowhere both times – but loved the fishing.
Second – Witherington Farm. Mainly because of the craic. The fishing’s dropped off a bit – but the company normally makes up for that.
Really like Viaduct too, also Broadlands. River wise – the Kennet, obviously!!

TF_HillbillyFor me it has to be Roy Marlows Mallory Park and Glebe complex.

15/02/2010 at 12:41 pm #94394
mattycommercials, commercials and some more commercials!! apart from a mention of porth reservior.
The trent for me, the smell of the river, the surroundings, and the feeling when that stick float dips under.
If i had to pick a commercial type water, and i don’t regard it so much commerical, it’d definately be messingham sands, for the sheer amazment of mixed bags you can get, not bothered about the carp.

15/02/2010 at 9:34 pm #94512
TF_AlibongoParticipantTRENT
you never know what is going to be on the hook next and you feel a real sence of achievement everytime you catch something. plus the craic is different with the river lads as apposed to commercials, everyone seems to want to hang about and discuss there day and methods.for commercials its got to be hayfield and lindholme both stuffed with fish and a good laugh.
-

TF_billy the squidParticipantI have to admit porth reservoir is stunning, even with that bank on the way back from the 30’s where my wellies fell off sending me to my knees for a face full of barrow!

AnonymousIt was Burton Mere fishery before it was sold to the RSPB a few years ago. I guess i was becoming the venue expert and held the match record until the open matches finished (Which i broke 3 times). I also did several magazine features on the match lakes. So, that venue gave me a good angling profile. I learnt so much from match fishing on those lakes at Burton Mere. One of the few venues where you could catch on any method and could win from almost any peg. Such a shame its gone for anglers. It was becoming a very special match venue for me!
Partridge Fishery is now starting to become a firm favourite with me. The fishing is getting much better and plans to make it even better. Good bunch of lads and the numbers for the opens are now often over 50. I think its a fishery going somewhere. The North West has needed a top commercial match venue and we might just be getting close with Partridge Lakes.
Love White Acres but i have not been back since the fish kills just over a year ago. Nothing to beat the buzz of fishing the festivals. I should be back this year to see how the fishing is, now.
Rolf,s Lake is incredible. I,ve never seen so many double figure carp in a lake. Only fished it once but has to be the place i want to fish again, the most. What an experience that venue is!
-
16/02/2010 at 7:35 am #94547
JonnyOStafford Moor – no where else comes even close for me. The setting the peace & quiet the craic and the sheer variety of the lakes and winning methods makes it hard to beat. Oh and Andys sambucca nights!
Also a special mention for kouros and polimidia reservoirs in Cyprus. 40lb bags of roach and 200lb bags of carp respectively – oh and fishing in teeshirt and shorts in October when it’s still 30+ degrees!

TF_DATGot so many “favorites” that its hard knowing where to begin.Rolleston, down the short lane for feeder, hazelford upstream of star and garter for stickfloat.Anywhere on my beloved river don downstream of conisbrough through to barnby dun.
Now that im a southerner, nicks lake at hartleylands on method feeder, chequer tree for its skimmer fishing on the pole or anywhere i can fish a pellet waggler. All depends on what i want to catch and how i want to catch them. -
16/02/2010 at 9:03 pm #94643
TF_Dr.PhilWhen in Blighty only fish the two areas:
Cornwall; Bolingey ,Whiteacres pools,Gwinear and Mawgan Porth but MP takes my vote.
Leicester:;Peatling pools ,Holly Farm ,Makins ,Glebe and Mallory park fisheries. Roys waters take top vote for me and it should be the venue for the next FISHMANIA …….10 times better than anything used previous. -

TF_MARKHLDASThe next fishery I’m going to, I never fish a venue I don’t fancy anymore, so this weekend it will be Sumners Ponds Nr.Horsham.
Although my Fav venue is Old Bury Hill, tranquil old estate lake and if your on the Bream it’s great.
Monks tickles my fancy these days for the reasons JC states, especially a match on Bridges or Puma.
I’ll give shout for Hartleylands as your guaranteed a days fishing.
Finally my club fixtures with Dorking and LDAS on the River Mole where every pegs a flier as the memory bank goes back 50 years for some of the members.

TF_Yare RodHas to be the Yare, big, beautiful, moody and natural. Fishes differently with each tide, you only get 14 weeks on there each year and there are no rules! Only downside is the bait bill.
