I remember one you dropped off the pole/rod with a cable running back to you and you got a picture back at base. Tried one once in Italy. They worked really well – in terms of getting a good picture. The little bass were quite inquisitive of it. The carp ran away! Can’t recall what they were called at the moment. Might come back to me.

I have a hummingbird one but rarely use it now. I recall casting it out in a match as it was very useful for finding drop offs etc. However one angler complained and subsequently had them banned in matches as he claimed they helped in finding fish. It was a red hot day when I used it and all the fish were on top and clearly visible!

Several years ago on a Fishomania qualifier at Lindholme Lakes there was a very well known angler sat behind his mate – (he was on the reserve list but didn’t get a place) I saw a yellow fishfinder fall out of a carryall, when I asked if it was a fishfinder he told me it was a Satellite Phone and then pretended to ring someone on it – I nearly fell in the lake laughing.

I’ve posted it several times over the years, I was also contacted by the said angler through another forum after posting it and asked to keep his name out of it.
