TF_Mike HerringtonHow the hell can some people get up to 8 tickets whilst others get nothing??????
because they have been backing fisho since it began and have purchased more than 50 tickets to be a vet. they get to chose upto 8 venues where they have a better chance than average to get a ticket and they are also allowed to apply for those other venues that they haven’t selected as their faves. -

Do they write each individual email or something?? The draw is computer generated, they have our email addresses, there must be a way of a mass email shot to all of the successfull.

The fisho was sold again this year, the only reason people get more tickets than others is just down to the draw and if your a vet then you are guaranteed 6 six anyway.

AnonymousDont take this the wrong way please….But i haven’t got any tickets cos i never bother to enter this competition as i just dont like the way its run and winner take all finals are totally not my thing..As it stands at the moment,it is not open to everyone who applies either as there are numerous anglers who miss out altogether whilst others receive multiple tickets,i dont think that thats fair..I also think that the payout for section winners in the qualifiers is piss poor aswell bearing in mind how much it costs to enter each qualifier…I also believe that the top 3 in the final should split the purse which would give the anglers who are not on the winning peg something to fish for, there’s nothing worse than sitting there knowing that you’re just an also ran watching someone else bag up whilst you can do absoluteley naff all about it and knowing that there’s nothing else to fish for.
This is just my thoughts and opinion of course and I know that a lot of you wont agree with what i’ve written but fair play to those who do apply and good luck to you,you certainly need it.

TF_gazmalmanWhy on earth dont they just post the lists on the site, would take no more than 20 minutes to do and those of us who are still in tha dark wouldnt be sat wondering.
As someone whos been quite lucky with tickets up to now I do argee with those who state its unfair that some get lots of tickets and others none. I dont men the vets club, i think thats fine, but a compleatley random draw isn’t the best way. I would propose a prefrence system where you pick your qualifers in order of preference that way everybody would get at least one and it would more than likey be the nearest to your house. If anybody from the AT is actually reading this I would be happy to write the software for you to run a draw like that.

Taken fron A/Trust site.

TF_Nigel.Right, same moans every year!!!
The vets club is for past winners and former anglers that have fished quilifiers from the first year.
At the same time the vets club was introduced, the peg numbers went up from 100 to 130 to compensate for the vets, so there is still to this day 100 pegs per match for anyone to enter. The guy who said he had applied for 4 tickets each year for the last 7 years is incorrect, as 2004 2005 and 2006 i applied for 16 each year, and got all 16 each year, and the event wasent sold out like it has been for the last 3 years.
The swap to all comercials in 2005 has been very succsesful, and the event continues to be sold out, even after introducing AT membership to entrance.
Matt Hall by the way still ony gets 6 vets tickets even though he has now won twice, (once when i was on the next peg!) i cant see that being done again to be honest. And by the way, he got 11 tickets this year.
Some guys put a LOT of effort, traveling, money, and commitment into tyring to quilfy, and deserve there rewards.

ForestEverForestParticipantI don’t approve of Fish o’ Mania – its a circus put on by Sky Tv. As far as I am concerned Sky have ruined football in this country and don’t do fishing any favours either!
I think the multiple entry system is total pants, one angler – one entry!!
Its a real pity the £25,000 is not used to promote a team event instead.
I may get shot down, but they’re my views on the subject!!

AnonymousI dont bother with Fisho anymore since it was changed to a computer only entry system and the need to give my bank details out. This in effect restricts many anglers from entering the competition who dont have a bank account. Dont want to give personal bank account detail out on the internet or dont have access to a computer. The old system of entering was much better in my opinion.
I agree with you Gaz re the system of allocating tickets. Everybody who apply,s for a ticket should get one based on preference then second preference if the first choice preference was not drawn.
Think those who backed the competition in the early days should get preference to a number of tickets. Without those vets. The competition would have folded after only a few years. So, they should be rewarded.

Who doesn’t have a bank account these days? haha surely everybody/most people have one, how can you go through lafe without one.
-
11/02/2010 at 11:57 pm #94026
TF_gazmalmanIts the only way that the tickets could truly be distributed fairly TB. At the end of the day all of us who have entered this year are members of the trust and should have an equal chance of compeating. There would be other benifits too, I reckon with a prefrence system most people would get 3 tickets and more than likey they would be the three nearest your house. It would cut costs hugely. I also suspect it would cut down on no shows.
Personally I think the vets club should be ‘phased’ out over a few years.
I say this as someone who has fished 6-8 qualifers a year for the last few years. I just think it would be better for the event and the sport to have the most even method of allocation possible
-
11/02/2010 at 11:57 pm #94027
AnonymousI dont have a bank account, trav849. Or at least. Not one that pays for things on the internet. Mine lets me get money out of the hole in the wall and thats it. The point i was attempting to make. Is that you need a computer and a bank account with a card that allows you to pay for things. You also need to be prepared to give your details out. Something im not happy to do!!!
-
12/02/2010 at 12:00 am #94028
TF_Johnny MacTrueblue, I thought all your money came in brown envelopes 🙂
-
12/02/2010 at 12:23 am #94029
AnonymousAgreed, Gaz. Think the big issue is that the event is not set up for anglers convenience. The anglers pay whatever is asked of them to fish in the competition. 100 peg qualifiers are now 130 peg qualifiers. Entry fees have gone up over the years. Now you also have to be a member of the A/T. The payout is still £25,000 winner takes all and a biggest fish prize. A sponsor was found for the competition. So, Matchroom make money. Sky make money. The A/T now make money. I bet they get payed by Matchroom for running the competition. And you now HAVE to be in the A/T. The fisheries that hold the qualifiers and the final make money. The anglers have to put up with the way the tickets are applied for and the way they are allocated. The anglers pay more for there entry. Have less chance of qualifying for the final and the prize has never gone up. It could be better in my opinion!
Brown envelops, Johnny? I get white envelops at Partridge, mate 🙂
-
12/02/2010 at 12:34 am #94031
TF_gazmalmanThe fisheries have to join the angling trust at £450 to hold a qualifer though TB so they dont make all that much, one or two will be losing money compared to what they would make with a normal open.

Thats when peg fee’s start to go up to cover what they’ve lost joining the trust.

12/02/2010 at 12:47 am #94036

TF_Fordy£450 to get a qualifier isn’t much when you consider the exposure each fishery gets on Sky. We show about 4mins on each match to tell they story. 4mins of telly costs a lot more than £450!!

TF_RhinoGot 7 from 12. More than happy with my number of tickets though disppointed I wont get my annual trip to Viaduct this year, a place I really like but its too far to go for an open (400+ round trip!)
Just spoken to Sandra at the AT – she should have the full reserve lists, down to 150th, by the end of the day. This is much better than top 50 as it gives you a better idea of your chances by turning up on the day.
They dont do the emails by computer btw – Sandra does them all, quite a job that.
