Was it a good match and how do you have good anglers blanking on a commercial ?

On one hand it was a good match in that it was close at the top unlike last years easy win. On the other hand it was a poor match as most didn’t catch. It’s a dire venue.

Some will say it’s because of the big crowd etc but I’d say the Match This final at Larford isn’t too bad.

Don,t know about it being a poor match poorly attended compared to hayfield .And the international match on sunday was even worse .I dare say you could have counted the spectators.

first of all lets just take a minute to remind ourselves
that this is the FISH O MANIA final
secondly if anyone thinks that 40 something kilos is a good weight
for this kind of final should give there head a good old shake
thirdly to my amazement the venue has removed AND NOT re stocked the barbel
although i have it on good authority that some barbel have died

this is the biggest televised match in our sport
              IT SHOULD BE SPECTACULAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in my opinion its time for a purpose built venue and stop messing about and dig build whatever they like instead of penny pinching other venues
              just my opinion of coarse

well said matchace i have to agree,i went to cudmore this year and the year before and must say the attendances are getting lower ,i also attended about 4 finals when it was held at hayfield lakes where there seemed to be a lot more spectators ,but must agree need to build a purpose built arena ,dont know bout you but camera men stood on the empty peg filming must have a massive effect on the fishing as well i know it would piss me off if som eon e was standing where i was trying to build a margin swim up ,i know there trying to get the best shots possible for the viewrers but surely a permanent cameras on a post or something would be no hindrance to an angler ,if they do build a purpose built lake please make it in doncaster so i dont have to travel far lol can live in hope,oh and matchace it was 19 kilo the winnin g result ,not 40 kilo ,thingk u meant 40 odd lb lol

There is a camera on the island that can zoom in to the anglers but we never saw a float go under or a tip go round. I guess that’s because they have to cram in all the other stuff. Saying that they gave plenty of time to the poor Hungarian guy on the Sunday playing what looked liked a foul hooked fish on 9 hollo (with an unused puller bung). I did not know whether to laugh or cry.

Watched both days in full on sky TV . The international match was far better viewing with the England lads silverfish catching skills a joy to watch , plus Alan Scotthorne was a breath of fresh air doing the commentary , he called it spot on so many times like a true pro , all in all a very good production allround .Far too much waffle on the Saturday event though for me and some of the anglers didn’t help the coverage by sticking to noddy methods and catching zilcho ! Lad that won it fished a blinder , a class act and well deserved .

Sat behind pegs 1 and 2 between them they covered most methods. There was fish all over their pegs but the fish would not feed. When the anglers fed you could counted to 5 and then watch the bow waves as the fish moved.

At one point Andy Geldart hooked a fish and as it swam off it collided with another sending bow waves in all directions.

It had to be sole destroying knowing there were lots of fish in your peg and not being able to get a bite, especially with it being such a high profile match

If the fish are not in the peg or feeding, even the best angler cannot catch them.

Is the Sunday international available to view anywhere?

Areana at Cudmore was designed with the fisho final in mind. The lake is stuffed full of fish including some very big fish.

No mater what lake/venue is used. There is always gong to be issues with the production until it is agreed that the anglers and the fishing takes priority over the filming of the event. A more match fishing friendly match would offer many more chances to get quality footage. Until the production team stop demanding cameramen on the empty pegs between the anglers. Your always going to have issues with margin swims.

If Sky can film Premiership football matches without the need for cameramen in the penalty area. It seems strange that a few cameramen on the island in hides and a few static remote controlled camera,s are not enough to give quality coverage showing everything thats going on when the anglers are sat down on seat boxes fishing.

Yeah the match is exclusive in the fact you have camera men and crew wandering about all over the shot you wouldnt want all that comotion in your peg through choice would you, i get p!**ed off at any disturbance in a match one stray dog walker is too much for me

think it was an excellent final – fish are fish- they’re unpredictable sometimes – so cant blame the venue.
However, certainly agree with Dodge – the second day studio commentary was superb – indeed, i could have listened to just this for five hours 🙂 – totally unlike the first day – where they seem to mainly cater for non-angling viewers – a wrong decision, imo – and yet didn’t seem to show much actual bankside action – again, unlike day 2.
I’d personally like to see hourly weigh-ins – rather than half hour – as this again, obviously limits what can be shown.

Still overall, a great occasion and superb tactical display from deserved winner Mr.Geldart and of course Messrs. Shipp-Raison.
Bit fed up of people knocking foreign teams for lack of knowledge about pullers, etc.
They are new to them, and dare say we’d find them strange as well in their position reversed. So very good result for Holland and Poland considering. Can see it getting much tougher as years go by.
Still would prefer teams of 4 instead of pairs – but thats just my unqualified opinion. Nevertheless a big well done to all involved.

                                    IT MUST BE SPECTACULAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no wonder everyone thinks its a boring sport when you watch saturdays grand final
NO ONE has picked up on the point i made
about the barbel being removed and dying
they would have fed with confidence due t the fact all the carp were sun bathing
the anglers on that final are the best open match anglers in the country by far
                                    they each won there match
                                    AND THEY DESERVED BETTER !!!!!!!!!!!!

why do we need to see massive weights to make it a better final ? any match is about catching more weight than the other competitors.one decent fish could of swung it dan brydons way and when andy lost that late carp it was a great end to the match.the barbel wouldnt of made a massive difference as they only showed in numbers on a few pegs anyway .people have been spoilt with the weights on commercials now,100lb or 200lb doesnt mean its a better match.i do think though that another venue should get the final if cudmore doesnt improve next year.

You dont need big weight for a final I agreee you need somewhere where the weights are consistent though, I cant imagine how shit it feels when you qualify then spend a small fortune in the lead up to the final probably taking holidays from work to practise and then catch bugger all on the day.
