  Don’t know who they are but I would suggest vetting them better for next years event. If I was Nathan Watson. Would be pissed at them wanting to remove his net whilst he was playing a fish!

  They are volunteers “volunteers” from the angling trust they give up their time to help if you or any others can do better then I suggest you put your name down for next year.

  I’m all for the volunteers helping out but surely someone has shown them what they should and shouldn’t be doing when weighing a net of fish in?? Some of the weigh ins have almost been farcical!

  agree, it was cringe worthy! how hard is it to show someone to pull a ring through and tip the fish in.

  Do u not think these people are being extra carefull whilst weighing in and ensuring weigh mats etc are used to ensure that they cannot get accussed of mistreating fish , the stewards I believe you are referring to have had over 70 years angling experience between them and 1 is very well known on the north west match circuit and a regular at border fisheries “tell the shell “

  If you’re suggesting that they were being extra careful then I’d say they were doing the opposite, they were taking longer, keeping the fish out of the water for longer than neccessary. I defo saw one bloke f**k it up, so he rolled the fish down the net.

  And anyway, all that angling experience means sod all when you can’t empty a keepnet efficently. I know blokes with plenty of angling experience but they still catch bugger all week in week out.
