floating islands

        we have had some cormorant problems on our club lake .we have now put some cages in for the winter but as spring comes i want to put more cages in with floating islands on top .has anyone made some for their clubs if so how did you go about making them. looking to do something like this

          Our club has three of these. I can’t vouch for whether they work to protect the fish etc etc but the logic seems sound. They soon grow to look OK too

          The one comment I do want to make is how they are attached to the bottom. At first ours were chained to the bottom, which meant the floated about a little bit. They only moved a foot or so, but that was a bugger when you were clipped up and they’d moved towards you!

          Now I think they are staked to the bottom (about four feet I think) which means that they stay put.

            was thinking of a piece of scaffolding to stake the islands and cages .problem with our lake is there is no cover at all so it must be better than none

              Yes you’d think they’d work to protect the fish wouldn’t you.

              You may need two scaffolding poles, set as far apart as possible to stop the islands rotating
