TF_CraftytaftyJust watching the Carling Cup semi final. There are so many empty seats. You’d never have had this years ago even for the Carling Cup.
Attendances are so poor now for the cup competitions.
What is it, no one can afford to go? It’s so devalued cos the big clubs are only interested in Europe, people are just disillusioned with football or is football just not entertaining now?

TF_proper tidal boyquite happy to sit with bees normal 5000 crowd y0u get to know every one around your seat no prawn sandwich crowd here just footie fans never any glory in 50 years of going .Just happen to be old school when you went to your nearest ground and followed them thick and thin NOW IT HAS TO BE GLORY ALL THE TIME OTHERWISE THEY CHANGE TEAMS LIKE CONFETTI LOOK AT ALL THEM PREMIERSHIP GLORY BOYS WITH NOTHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO THIS SEASON WITH NO CUP GAMES to follow seriously the game is pricing normal fans out of the game
shall we start with ticket to home game av 25 quid
transport 6quid
programme 2.50
2x before ko 3x after game beers 20 quid
food 6 quid
say 60.00 for 1 and half hours entertainment for a first division game not very good value is it without taking any little ones with you??????? so footie is going to the wall and you could quite easily double that for away game -

TF_budnuddParticipantBlackburn don’t deserve a prem club, attendences like that are a joke. We have to play the likes of Wycombe and Carlisle and still get 20k+

TF_SLABThe most annoying thing about the Blackburn attendance was that they only gave Villa 5000 tickets. They asked for more and was denided. The reason given was they did not whant to many Villa fans beacause of safety. The real reason is their would have been a 50/50 split in support.

I have to disagree with you on this Jeff.
firstly it’s not for another 8 weeks and having booked hundreds of hotel rooms with my former job you rarely pay up front, sometimes a deposit. You have a right to cancel as long as it’s a certain period of notice ( rarely more than a day) so there isn’t really an issue apart from the fact that some Forest fans want to go up there for a night on the p*ss and now they can’t unless they go on the sunday and have a day off work ( good nightlife on a sunday up there, well used to be)
The other thing is I don’t think you can expect sky to arrange there tv schedules around the social life of football fans.
Anyway thought you’d have loved the chance to go and watch them in the pub and ring us all with a pass by pass commentary!~clap ~clap

TF_GaryCrafty, I suspect all of the things that you mentioned (cost, minor competition, disillusionment and lack of entertainment because the best players seldom play) are all factors.
I would imagine that Blackburn’s current terrible run, the weather and the fact that it was live on TV also played a part.

MikeS.I think the extreme weather this last week or so has had a big effect on attendances in the Cup. Not sure I would have fancied getting from Plymouth to Newcastle in those conditions!!
