1st thing is that you have to speak french but i came across this and many other french fishing clips on youtube….peche-au-coup-en-riviere. It would be nice to see our England internationals do something similar rather than another dvd on a carp filled puddle using the heavy elastics/pellet/method that will take all of 30sec to get a fish.Yes i am aware that it will have to have a market and will have to get a reasonable catch but most of us know of a good bit of river or a non commercial lake that has a large roach and bream population that can be caught using a bit of finesse on the pole/ whip/waggler/slider or the french version of the bomb, the giant waggler i for one would buy that.
I don’t know if it’s just a southern thing but does anyone fish the stillwater waggler anymore ? in my area it’s the pole or feeder even on pleasure sessions no one will use the float with any enthusiasm particularly if they have a flash box or are under 30. [broad statement i know] I guess the cost of poles and there ease of use and versatility has had an influence on the stillwater waggler demise.just think of that empty water between the end of the pole and your feeder line though. The other fact is its hard to win on the waggler against the pole and you may be throwing money away. What about a few running line float matches at club level or just give it more of a go on a pleasure session. At least you will feel something on the end unlike the pole. Maybe there’s a budding Ivan Marks out there somewhere. If you want to wet your appetite try and get a copy of Ivan Marks on float fishing the 1st accounts of a days fishing should have you suitably fired up.It did me.

Its ironic that you cant use keepnets on the majority of venues in this country and yet top internationals keep their fish in buckets!!

Plenty of silver fish video,s on natural venues made by top English anglers. I have about 20 of them including a collection of classics i got at xmas. Great to watch but i dont think they made much money when they where created.

I think you will find that some anglers are still using the waggler to good effect on both silver fish venues and commercial pools. The waggler does still win a few matches on some venues against the pole and will always do so.
