Report:
The Thursday KOBRA Open at Dynamite Baits Makins was fished on the ‘Snake’ on Phase 2 of the complex, and although weights were not spectacular, everyone caught fish.
The match saw a return to form by Browning Central’s Gaz Wood (pictured below with his winning catch) whose 42 lb from corner peg 9 saw him home with nearly 10 lb to spare. Gaz fished long pole along the margin with pellet bait for 35 lb 10 oz of decent carp and 6 lb 6 oz of ‘silvers’. (Photograph of Gaz with his catch of carp is attached)
Second place fell to previous ‘Fish-O-Mania’ winner Mick Bull (Guru / Shimano / Dynamite) from peg 15, where long pole and corn resulted in his 32 lb 14 oz catch.
Local angler Terry Brindley (Force Baits) was third with 24 lb 14 oz from peg 22, followed by 23 lb from peg 3 taken by Best Baits backed Wendell Ward.
The next Kobra Thursday Open (25th March) will be on Phase 3, over the Avon and Inner Avon Pools. Draw at 9.30am.

Lake 2 at Dynamite Baits Makins produced the first ‘ton-plus’ weight of 2010 in a midweek Kobra Open when, on Wednesday, Northampton’s Mark Griffiths (Ringer Baits) put 20 carp for 107 lb 12 oz on the scales for a clear win.
Fishing hot peg A20, Mark fished an excellent match to take fish at a steady rate throughout the match on corn presented on straight lead.

There was a close finish for second place. Jim Innes (Nuneaton Nomad) on peg A15 caught 5 of his 8 carp in the early part of the match, taking three more later on, all on corn presented on straight lead, to end with 46 lb 8 oz. In contrast, Geoff Ringer (Ringer Baits) fishing from out of form peg A5 caught 5 carp in the final 90 minutes, all on corn and open end feeder, for 40 lb 2 oz and third place.
