MonoHi all, ive been a club angler for a few years and have got feed up with match winning weights of 2-20lb on my local water( In summer ! ), so I am thinking of going down to gold valley as its only 40 miles from my house, I need help in regards to methods and tackle that I will need ie rods, reel line etc for the carp fishing, also how many keep nets do you take ? and any other advice you can give , no doubt I will be pools fodder for a fair few matches, but I should learn alot more.I have had alook at there site but I always like to ask around for feed back and info, I guess the best thing is to have a walk around when they have match on, who knows perhaps Will can help me out.

Anonymousmono,
i dought very much if william will help out ,i dont think he dose helping out with info !!
from what i think you will need is a good powerful waggler rod
reel loaded with 6lb line a few diff weighted pellet wagglers
and some hair rigs or bait bands what ever you prefer, a good catapult 6-8mm pellets
on your pole i’d have a paste rig at say 8mts and an inside line with pellet or corn for late on, these methods will get you going you will see what the others are doing when your there ,also take a couple of nets, -

TF_Tony 9151Mono
Take 3 nets mate, 1 for silvers and 2 for carp as they have limits on the max weight in each net -

TF_FBluesIf you find Will there and he’s not fishing and you ask him, he will help you out. If he’s not there, Dennis in the tackle shop will. The fishing varies according to time of year. Currently it’s method with pellet, meat or corn; pellet waggler and, if it ever warms up, pole and paste at 6m. On Middle you might find a few on the pole shallow too, long and shallow that is.

TF_PikeyMono – Where do you live then ?
Willinghurst is another alternative venue – you will feel a lot more welcome there and they have open matches every wednesday, Saturday and sunday. A few of us on here fish there and will always help you out with methods etc. -

Anonymousmono, the 15 ft rod is a great rod but you maybe better off with one a little shorter ,the porky pig will be ok for the feeder, but try and find a shorter waggler rod 11-12ft
i’m selling a diawa power waggler for £75 as it happens -

TF_PikeyMono – No they are completely different. Willinghurst is mainly pole – anywhere between 6 and 14 Metres and in the edge. You can also catch on the lead and method feeder. Best baits are catfood, corn, pellet and paste. Todays, weights on the open on the top lake were:-
152lb
118lb
111lb
110lb
95lb
and lots of 60’s -

Anonymousit depends on how many turn up to say how much will be payed out,but to enter most matches are £20 and some have an optinal super pool which is an extra £5.
