TF_youngyI’ve always used a B911 for most of my Carp/F1/Pellet work but have decided that during winter i would like to try something a bit lighter for F1 and small pellet in winter.
any ideas?. -

TF_daverobertsI like the Preston PR24s 0r 21s. They are lighter guage than 911s and pretty sharp. I haven’t used the tubertinis but have heard good things about them. (808s I think?)

pete turnerused the pr24 last winter, had lots of problems bumped fish, points turning over !been using the gamakatsu g pellet since brilliant points like needles and stay sharp for a long time also use them in summer for caster up in the water

TF_daverobertsYoungy
The 611 are not as good as good as a lot of the hooks mentioned for that type of fishing. They don’t have an in-turned point. It’s just a case of trying some of the above and finding one that you’re confident in.

TF_Hillbilly808’s all the way for me and as yet no blunting problems to speak of. Good for winter corn fishing and feeder with dead reds as long as the fish are not to big.

AnonymousDave, i use the 808s for all my expander pellet fishing in winter. 808s can blunt when using maggots or banding hard pellet but with expander pellets there is no prblems. Hope that helps mate.

AnonymousWill do a report for your club forum sometime this week just like i did last year. However, for now. I won a gold match. Finished in 34th in the Maver festival but still had 3 section wins. I crashed out big time in the Prestons along with some top anglers on the next pegs to me who also crashed and burned. Finished 3rd in the gold winners festival against some very good anglers. £740 winnings over the 5 weeks. So i cannot complain, mate!

bodgeParticipanttre blue, you were at the preston festival? in section B? drew peg 8 twin oaks first day? just trying to put a face to the name… regs, the taff.

AnonymousYes, i was next to Alan Scothorn on peg 8. I struggled as i was expecting to catch across to the fare bank. The fish had moved in close and like many others struggled until we came on the inside lines late on. Was that you on peg 10? My peg produced 153lb on the Tuesday to win the match. Gutted! Thats match fishing i guess.

bodgeParticipantyes mate that was i. thats right mate that is match fishing. that seemed the way for the week though. not that many pegs threw up 2 days on the bounce. the trend seemed to be they would have a battering and then move.

AnonymousI agree about the way it fished. Well done on making the top 24 and a place in the Pardeans final. Must have been a great experience fishing for £25,000 against the highest quality field ever put together in one match. Shame you where not on enough fish to challenge the top pegs. Still a great day you will always remember i think!

bodgeParticipantthanks mate, yeah it was very cool. still kicking myself over the 2 dropped points which cost me several hundred quid and a top 3 finish, but hey ho! the final was great fun, my mates were more nervous than me! roll on next year!!! we get to do it all again… you fishing the spring fest? we are going on the milo.

AnonymousNo sure about the spring fetivals. See how the money is after xmas but i will be back next year for the Maver, Prestons and Gold winners festivals. Oh, and the Parkdeans final i hope! 2 points dropped? 9 points on Twin Oaks, 9 points from the bridge peg on Gwinear, 8 points from next to Steve Ringer on Porth, 8 points on Bolingy while sitting in the sun. Not sure you could win your section from that peg as the ones infront of you are much better. Not sure which peg you where in on polly but you already had your points for the final. Still a great result.
Sorry Dave. Yes, 808s every time for expandr pellets in winter on our local waters.
