TF_kookie3011Just received it today mail order when you sit on the box the side drawer does not open. when you get off the box it opens.spoke to shop and they remember a previous customer having a similar problem and the customer rectified it but they cannot remember how.
Can you help before i have to send it back. Is there an easy fix.
Box looks nice – await replies -Kookie

TF_AmerParticipantkookie3011,
The same problem occurred with the previous Fox boxes like the MSB, which as you may know the top draw units fit straight onto the Matrix Superbox frame.
If you sit on the box and sit over to the left of the cusion you will open the draws no problem, of you sit towards the right towards the draws then as you have seen you can’t open the draws easily. Also worth mentioning is the footplate, I had one of the first boxes when they launched them last summer, I found the footplate once used a few times started to stick, they have since sorted the problem out by replacing the rail underneath the footplate to give it more play and stops it sticking inside the main frame.
GL and hope this helps

TF_scarfI swapped drawers round so that I have my float drawer, which I don’t use as much, under the seat.

TF_kookie3011thanks, I will try this.
re swapping drawers. The drawer which is the slim partitioned one cannot be swapped with the deeper drawer I take it you mean buy a slim float tray and put it in that position..
i cannot believe all boxes have this problem and if i cannot rectify it I will ask for a replacement top unit which they can check by getting someone to test it by sitting on it and trying to open it.. I knew I would have a problem but asked for it to be checked before sending.
IF ANYONE ELSE HAS ANY IDEAS I WOULD BE GRATEFUL -

TF_kookie3011update
The footplate sticks and it it is nearly impossible to pull it out and I did loosen the retaining knobs.
The retailer was excellent and they are going to pick up and reorder a new box and test it before delivery. I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED

TF_Fred DavisI think it takes the biscuit a box that don’t work properly, you should send the box back to the shop let them sort it, if it’s not up to it, not fit for purpose, demand your money back ! The pathetic excuse by the tackle shop “we had someone who had the same problem and sorted it” don’t cut the mustard, why should the punter be made to sort out problems on what is clearly a badly manufactured bit of kit. A mate of mine had the matrix trolley and had loads of problems eventually fed up he demanded his money back, there have been reports of other bits of kit (method feeders?) falling apart it is clearly not good enough send the stuff back if it’s rotten why fix it especially when you have parted with hard earned cash.
No one should accept goods not fit for purpose imo -

TF_Smedi have just bought the superbox! fantastic box, love it, im 16 stone and the drawer opens fine if i shuffle onto my left butcheek, but its hard to open if i have all my weight on my right cheek!
ive just put it down to being new! its a tight fit (i wouldnt want a loose fitting drawer!)
also the footplate is stiff yes, but again its a nice tight snug fit, ive sprayed a little spray grease onto the runners (and smeared a little onto the runners of the drawers)
footplate now runs fine…. -

TF_Fred DavisThe drawers open fine if | shuffle on the left buttock, your aving a laugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! these days drawers should open and close no problem they all have magnetic catches so even it they open with ease should stay secure, tollerences should take into account someone sitting on the box ! talk about mickey mouse 😮

TF_AmerParticipantHas anyone ever made the perfect box? IMO the Matrix box is very good as its a new box they have a few teething problems but Fox have put it right now. The draw issue is not an issue to me, I can access my rigs, odds and ends no problem. Would sooner a snug fitting draw than a loose draw. Fox are putting new rails on footplate as I have already mentioned, no need for grease.

TF_mart4666Hi all. I must have a goodun lol. As im 23st 4lb and my draws opens ok. It feels stiff because the magnetic catch is quite strong when new.and my footplate slides ok even with a covering of mud on it where it runs.
Believe me when 23st is on the seat it dont matter if you lift ya right or left butt cheek its still under pressure. Got rid of d36 as it had severe drawer sticking issues and didnt even store much. It looked pretty but thats all.
The matrix is a big improvement over rive apart from achie bum. Sorry right cheek after 4 hrs on it. I do suffer with siattica( NOT SPELT REET LOL).
Another plus is i bought mine at the evesham festival for 300 sovz so got a bargain imo. -

TF_Fred DavisObviously anglers who settle for second best allow manufacturers to continue to sell goods of poor quality, if there something wrong drawers sticking, footplate won’t slide, take it back, mart has got a goodun so they obviously can do it right, if anglers accept shody goods more fool them, there are plenty of good boxes out there that work perfectly without fault, I have a boss seven drawer works perfectly drawers don’t stick, magnetic catches work, fittiings- catches lock and unlock well, legs operate superbly, more importantly doesn’t take on any water, brilliant box which is yonks old and I can’t complain as it’s as good as new, because it’s been looked after and was checked thouroughly before purchase, Ok it’s not one of the newest all singing all dancing boxes but it’s fit for purpose, if you have a product that ain’t up to the mark simple take it back. these boxes ain’t cheap and should be fit for purpose.

buy a rive box you don’t get problems with those box’s
Youve never owned a rive then mate, Top drawer doesnt open unless you shift your weight to the opposite side, drawer handles snap, wooden fascia s fall off.
Rive actually market a spacer that fits between the seat and tray unit to fix the problem
with the top drawer.
Im lucky with my d25 that the top drawer opens ok and i dont have any wooden fascias, my last one was a nightmare. -

TF_PrawnkingI have the superbox frame having previously owned the MSB Euro box. I understand the sliding tray problem which is due to the weight of the angler compressing the plastic unit that holds the tray. It only occurs with the sliding tray directly under the seat the others do not suffer the same distortion and open fine. I have had similar problems with other boxes where the anglers weight prevents smooth opening simply moving from right to left or lifting slightly is an easy fix. I have had no problems with the footplate put the sliding cassette could do with a fastener on both sides rather than one for more security and is prone to pop out.

TF_Matrix 1Hi
Please make sure that the shop you purchased the box from contact us and we will pick it up from them ASAP
We can have the problem sorted within a few days
Regarding the drawer unit, sticking, this is usually to do with a rubber over moulding we have on the drawer to keep it water tight when in use
Please contact us and we will sort out any issues you have with this product
Yours

TF_Fred DavisIt’s good to see matrix responding to the problems as I said anglers pay good money and should take faulty items back, manufacturers definately don’t want bad press or anglers moaning about their faulty products, most of the time it’s tackle shops that don’t want the bother of sorting the problem out and leave the angler high and dry if anglers don’t start banging the drum, however maybe tackle companies should also have better quality control over their products? Still well done to matrix for being so pro active

TF_kookie3011Crikey I didnt realise I was so popular. Sorry for the delay as I am night duty at the moment. The box is due to go back this morning and upon inspection they will contact re a new order. It was supposed to have been collected yesterday but they missed the delivery time .
I have waited a long time to choose a new box and it seems to be a nice looking box and not too heavy which was an important consideration after my Milo I agree that when you pay top dollar it has to work correctly and I am sure that this will be rectified.
I am pleased to see a message from Matrix and I will try to PM them or send them a text on their website. I was as anxious to make it work when it arrived as it was part of my Christmas present from the family but as the wife said you will not be happy until its fixed so send it back.
Thanks for your response and as i said previously I will keep you in the loop

TF_mart4666now that i come to think ,it probably was the rubber seal that made mine feel tighter when new, and not the magnet.. either way im happy with the box in general and i do feel that matrix are receiving undue flack from people on forums over the last week or so.
in my opinion its better than the D36 st i had previously, but thats my opinon…..
on another thread ,may be another site a guy say thinking of buying a matrix box cos like the look of, some other guy says nowt but problems read other recent threads , guy says ooh ive read that im not goin to buy one now…
now my thoughts are has the potential buyer actually sat on the box and tried it in a shop or has he been persuaded by cyber talk 🙂
