HELP! my balls are seizing up.

I have been using a small Daiwa Calida reel on my 10ft bomb rod with good effect for a year and a half. Over the past few weeks it has been getting a lot of stick with plenty of big weights.

Yesterday I noticed that whilst reeling in fish the once smooth retrieve was progressively deteriorating, feeling stiff laboured. It feels fine under no loading.

Is this a symptom of bearings seizing or gearing failing? Should I open it up and lubricate it? Or send it off for service.

I’ts a 1500 model which may be a little undergunned for this style of fishing which would be a shame as it has served me well.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Strip it down fill it full of thick grease clean it and sell it ! Not to me though or anyone you know ~clap

Greasing your balls is not the way to go~naughty

A 1500 model really is not much good for anything other than bleak fishing on a canal with a waggler. You need far bigger balls for anything more meaty in my opinion, you probably only have two in your 15 mm version ~think
