TF_sheriffI have spoke to Neil and he has stated that due to the fact he states the match is on then he will have to allow anglers to clear their pegs if needed.
no doubt we will be spread over the ice free bits though~think ~think ~think -

TF_ropaWhat about Sunday, what about next weekend, is he going to allow ice breaking if it freezes?? Because times running out for practicing and deciding it`s on the day before isn`t much good!!

TF_LiquidizedF1, I too have a life, I’m a match angler and I normally fish on both days at weekend
Any updates are made as soon as Neil contacts me, providing wifi access is available, or as soon as I return home
Neil will make his decissions as late as possible, more in the hope of matches going ahead rather than having to cancel them
I’m not out today because the venue I was fishing is froze. The instant Neil gets in touch about tomorrows match, the web site will be updatedAnglers should not be giving Ken or Neil grief, they should accept like th rest of us, that the weather has been extreme in this long winter
There is nothing any of us can do about it, so why moan? It’s the same for everyone and all teams, not just you and your team -
20/02/2010 at 11:30 am #95232
TF_ropaLiquidised, how can you say it`s the same for all teams, we for instance live 200 miles from the venue, a 7hr round trip. This means digs have to be booked in advance and in most cases deposits have to be paid for these digs. We as a team cannot make our decisions the night before, logistics do not allow it!!~think

TF_Irk the puristsEvery sympathy for you Ropa…. You lads do more than any other team to be competitive in the Winter League semi’s….
Liquidised…. there is something that could be done…. Let us break the ice!!
The evidence from the experts says it doesn’t harm fish and the other angle is that if the cap isn’t broken occasinally in a cold spell the nitrogen can build to a point where you get fish losses… See Micky J’s recent post for confirmation…
If it’s such a principle for Neil why does ha allow ice breaking when he say’s the match is on but it gets a cap overnight?
How Mr Wade can allow this state of affairs to run on so long is beyond me….

TF_torokeep all semis on natural venues then all the arguments of breaking ice is sorted~clap ~clap

TF_ropaThen we would have the argument that the rivers been in flood all winter and unfishable!! Look as a match organiser and a fishery owner you are always going to come under critisicm for something or the other. Lets give some credit to Ken and Neil, Ken especially, he has to put up with adverse critisicm every year. They both couldn`t envisage the weather conditions we have had this year ( It has been exceptional )to say the least. Neil is being critisised now for having standards at his fishery, fairly or unfairly, it`s your opinion. My opinion is that I admire him for taking the Semi on and having standards at Heronbrook, however I think we are moving into the time of exceptional circumstances and critical times of practicing for the Semi`s, I personally would like him to relax his rules ( ice breaking ) and give us a decision earlier each week, then teams with a lot of travelling distance can plan their weekend.

Thank you for the commentsRopa
I also simpathise with you on your logistical problem. My comment “it is the same for everyone and all teams” was about the atempt to practice, little or lack of. Your post is well written and shows an understanding of the situation Ken and Neil are in with the extreme weather. It’s a pity others don’t show the same kind of respectIrk
They are Neil’s fishery and rules not mine. I only run the web site
My personal view is I think he is right. In the last few years he has lost fish through a heatwave and lost fish through a flood. There are no insurance payout with acts of god. It’s has cost Neil a great deal of money to restock the fishery twice. I don’t blame him for taking care of his stock wether you or experts say there is evidence no damage is done -

TF_Irk the puristsAny fishery ever lost fish through slush?
What a terrible farce!!
