After much debate and to try to get the practice matches up and running for the semi the match for sat was allowed to go ahead with some ice breaking in places.

After the match the decision was made that the match would be on for Sunday and the web site updated accordingly, team captains then informing others the Match is ‘ON’.

After leaving home Sunday morning for another 50 mile trip…. ‘Not far compared to some teams’ and although it had snowed in the nite main roads were not that bad. On arriving found several of the lads who were completeley disillusioned as the match had been called off, the kitchen staff sent home to save on wages leaving numerous hungry anglers scratching there heads in disbelief,,,,,,,

The venue was not froze over and was covered in slush from the defrosted snow. No need for ice breakin. Still cant work out why this match was cancelled after many people had travelled various distances through the snow to try and practice for a semi that is only 3 weeks away.

Can someone tell me what the A/T and the fishery owner will do if the weather forecast is correct and the pools could be iced over for the match.

The words ‘ it can only get better’ comes to mind but having seen this type of farce previously……I doubt it!!!

Oh dear. We had simler situation here yesterday, i had no golf due to the snow, so had no chef, but ended up with a few fisherman that wanted breakfast’s, i got the wife up to cook a dozen brekfast’s to keep them happy and warm.

She wasent best pleased, but the customers were!

I have a CIPS match here next Saturday, and we have called it off a already, if its called off, it needs to be done well in advance if there is worm and joker being ordered, and at least the night before otherwise.

On the morning is to late to cancle realy.

just been watching these threads but what a disgrace this has been .proper fisherys will as above sort things out rather than put there names foward and take the pi*s for the money .heronbrook is a great fishery but run with money in mind instead of anglers

              imo

How can you publicly declare the match on and the 12 hours later when people are turning up call it off.

It even cost us 10 quid to enter the Individual league which as now had 2 matches cancelled and cant be rescheduled due to other venue league matches……Am i entitled to my money back???

Running a fishery is a buisness and getting the balance right between customer/money/safety is no easy matter.
I know Neil fairly well and he will be trying to do the best he can for all concerned.
He cant please everyone all the time.
I imagine he will also be frustrated/annoyed with all the bad press he is recieving off this site, a lot of which is beyond his control, especially off people who were singing his praises after last summers festival.

HOW BAD WAS THE M6 THIS MORNING !!!!!

We left Manchester for our match in Wolverhampton at 6.15 am this morning, probably the most scariest drive i/we have encountered EVER with only one lane just about passable due to all the snow! Got there in one piece JUST !!! I find Heronbrook closing its doors to anglers who made the trip there quite disgusting tbh ~naughty ~naughty ~naughty

Neil must of known/expected that anglers would be turning up after reading on the H/B site that it was on, he’s been in the game long enough to know that.
He Should of at least had the cafe open for a drink/breakie for the lads that turned up.
Before they had to make their long journey home.

Fordy, this is where ive tried to help Neil all i can, ive spoke to him about 5/6 times this week discussing alternatives arrangements, ive even spoke to Ken Wade about re arranging dates which neil has accomodated dates in may however A/T state the match must go ahead because other dates clash with festivals and other matches and some teams have stated they wouldnt be able to get teams.

                                      Lump,
Ive been a fan of heronbrook for many years and tried to help to keep this match at this venue, having been on the phone all week and then trusted Neils word on the Sat why should i ring for the Sunday when it had already being publised as on???

The fishing is very hard at the moment, the weather, comorants and mink are not helping the fact either, After around 10 of my team there sat with some blanking and then get another 10 there on the Sunday shows the commitment we are giving to the league and the venue during hard times.

To say im now struggling to keep the team motivated and coping with the frustration of yet another P..s poor organising is an understatement….. i can see now why team fishing is not strong.

I hope we get to the final….might be names in a hat at this stage…..

Looking forward hopefully to another entertaining River Nene!!!!!!!!!!!

                                          Let me also add………

That if this was my fishery and this had happened together with the Cormorant and mink issues i would not have been locking the facilities, drawing the curtains and driving off at 0915 and asking someone else to lock the gate when 7 people had been left at the fishery to try and catch a few…….

My camoflage?? and shotgun would,ve been properly tested when we saw 4 fly over.

Very few commies can take ice breaking, move it to tunnel barn or canal, fishing should be first concern not teams after advantage. People saying Neil Dale is only interested in money are way off mark otherwise why would he cancel matches? What does Ken Wade do? he’s booked a venue and we’ve had the worst winter for years. Let’s have some positive views to get the best semi possible.

We match men are hard core , so off we went . Got there to find out it was called off , what a pisser ,ive been there the last few weeks and broke the ice each time , even though there is a rule , which states you carnt break the ice . Last night was probably the warmest night {pre match } for a while , as it snowed . The lakes were not frozen just covered in slush , would of been easy to push your pole cup through it , no problem . We left and went to Boldings , nearly 40 turned up and had a propper match , had a bite every put in all day , PROPPER VENUE …
