Im not sure about the claims of catching on mussel. However, im sure a few fish could be caught with that bait. I would tend to think either meat, pellets or paste will be the top baits on these lakes.
Google the Highfield fishery to get the full rules and stocking in the lakes. Looks like some interesting lakes and quality fishing!
