if it’s the Middy stuff, it’s great for lumps in open water set loose or tightened up for against snags

Solids have much less stretch than hollows, and they are lighter in the topkits. Solids are great for fishing long, the pole feels lighter and more responsive and IMO you don’t need the added security of stretch offered by hollow elastics due to the additional action in the pole. They also perform much better when fishing near snags, less stretch easier to stop them reaching those snags.

I tend to use hollows when fishing shallow venues, the margin or short on the pole. These are all times when the extra stretch afforded by using hollows can help when the fish bolts off.

              That my theory anyway.

doubled up solid elastics really take some beating as they retract like hollow elastics but power up like solid elastics, I have already converted several top kits to doubled up elastic as I find it much better than hollow, you also get the added bonus that it’s hell of a lot cheaper, however thats not a real consideration as we all want whats best for us when it comes to playing and landing fish.Give it a whirl you’l be suprised at how good it is, still can’t beleive how I discounted using it all those years ago when some of the dorking lads were messing about with doubled up laccy despite Dickie Carr raving about it and telling me to give it a go, however before we knew it we were all seduced by hydro at £15 a shot ~sick

Do you use a pulla bung with your doubled elastics or a plain winder bung !!

I’ve tried double recently and find what you and others say not true! I just use single solid and am happy with that.
