Solids have much less stretch than hollows, and they are lighter in the topkits. Solids are great for fishing long, the pole feels lighter and more responsive and IMO you don’t need the added security of stretch offered by hollow elastics due to the additional action in the pole. They also perform much better when fishing near snags, less stretch easier to stop them reaching those snags.
I tend to use hollows when fishing shallow venues, the margin or short on the pole. These are all times when the extra stretch afforded by using hollows can help when the fish bolts off.
That my theory anyway.
