Just wondered your prefered length of hook lengths for pole fishin for carp with pellets/corn as bait

I use 20cm’s (8 inches) on all carp pole fishing

iv always gone straight through but this season im trying hook lengths all 6″ long made using a preston hook length box, easy!

i have just made a load of 15cm hooklinks, but was worried that the loop to loop might be visable to any fish near the bait?

Don’t worry Macky, carp aren’t put off by loops or knots!

Personally I always fish straight through.

apart from when fishing mega shallow I’ve never understood the theory behind fishing straight through it makes no sense to me

before anyone replies with ‘its stronger, less weak points’ think about it first

8″ if i need to shot the hooklength its not a problem,i dont like the loop to loop to be too close to the hook personally.
I used to fish straight through (still do in margins or uitw).Been on hooklengths for a couple of years and it hasnt affected my catch rate and is so easy to change hooks,without all the hassle.

Almost all of my hooklengths are approx 6″ (width of front drawer on my box!).
