maggot_drownerDecided to go back to using hooklengths on virtually all my pole rigs again, after swapping to straight through rigs a few seasons back. Question is how long do you suggest I make them? I’ve got myself a Preston hooklength box and have set aside some time over the next week or so to start tying them ready for W/A.

TF_NathanWatsonDepends what type of fishing you’re doing but for big carp I wouldn’t use less than 12 inches. 6 inch for small fish.

Is there a specific reason you’d have your Carp rigs with such a long hooklength Nathan? I was thinking of doing them all 15cm.

TF_baitchefParticipantMatch them to the fishery rules, i think white acres is six inches isnt it? That way you can double up with the feeder and pole rigs.

I don’t think 12 inch is long, don’t like any shot closer to the hook than that and been longer has more stretch and strength.

maggot_drownerCheers for that Nathan, I’ll probably try a few different ones on a pleasure session…… or just plump for 10″, as nobodies suggested that one!
