Skeetex get quite a good feedback by those that have learnt to walk in them. Personally feel the cleats are poorly designed for muddy conditions and should be renamed Skidtex.
I’ve tried numerous boots over the years and have settled on decent Goretex lined walking/hiking boots. The ones I have from http://www.decathlon.co.uk are the Tecnica ones which are about £70, unfortunately they are about to be end of line, so might go and buy a second pair before they disappear.
These boots keep my feet dry and by buying one size larger and using an additional odour eater thermal insole, my feet stay warm too. The key points to warm feet in winter are:
1. good circulation, both in your feet and around your feet..
2. keeping the moisture away from condensing on your skin or soaking into your socks or liners.
3. Keeping your feet off the thermal path to ground for as much as possible. Hence the thermal insoles, and using a footplate.
4. A thin pair of socks worn within a soft wool (marino) pair is a better combo than one thick pair.
I know one or two use the small heat packs that you can buy from outdoor shops stuffed in their boots, but I think if your circulation needs that much help then you should stay at home…..
Rubber boots of any sort are a waste of money unless you are going to be standing in water.
